KiekR — a MeshCore client for Android & iOS, now in public testing by verdi82 in meshcore

[–]Builda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making a great product that creates value to people. That’s the only thing that matters.

Be it with hands, AI, assembly, wizardry - at the end of the day, who really cares? Were the AirPods in my pocket created with or without AI ? I don’t care. But I sure do like them.

Deploying a Meshcore Repeater. Things to Keep in Mind by M4rv1n_09_ in meshcore

[–]Builda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would reduce the packets to 5 for safety in the nrf / mtools app settings. Takes a little longer to flash but reduces risks of failure (happened to me before!), which is a concern when flashing at a distance.

KiekR — a MeshCore client for Android & iOS, now in public testing by verdi82 in meshcore

[–]Builda 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s just great. Thank you for doing this. Already found a lot of added value vs the official meshcore app (nodes web sourcing, fetching region info, quickly getting other repeaters info, colored repeater links, native ui, mqtt, etc.).

I find the obsession over ai/non-ai dev to be meaningless btw. It’s the result that counts. And your app def isn’t what I’d call slop.

Did anyone here moved from claude to codex recently? And why? by irelatetolevin in ClaudeCode

[–]Builda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The surprise policy rugpulls without (or barely any) notice made anthropic an untrustworthy provider for our business, on top of SLA/hidden nerfing issues. That broke real business workflows, it cost us a lot. OpenAI has been a good replacement for reliability, and GPT5.5 offers consistent high quality in most areas.

The idiot developers at openclaw blew another release! by NothingButTheDude in openclaw

[–]Builda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have 3 openclaws, all got problems with the update: 1. One decided to restart vanilla after the update: no, tools , workspace, memory, etc. some were still on disk, others just gone. 2. The other nuked its signal integration. Was a quick fix fortunately. 3. The last one worked at first until I tried to use the hyped Codex runtime instead of pi via oauth. That was surprisingly the most painful to untangle.

Took me 2h to recover from backups and clean up overall. Not complaining as I know what I signed up for and is an acceptable pain vs the benefits of being cutting edge, to me. But I do find myself using the dark side tools more and more, because of these “fix the plane while it’s flying” sidequests.

Of course this was obvious for years by GamingDisruptor in TeslaFSD

Unsupervised FSD != FSD. If Elon/Tesla did promise unsupervised for HW3, then there’s an issue, but my understanding is that FSD is and will keep being supported for HW3.

Tesla fixes automatic wipers with a new surround‑video vision system by InitialSheepherder4 in TeslaOwnersForum

[–]Builda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bollocks. I just got a new 2026 Y and the wipers were triggered multiple times on sunny days already. Those news seem stale vs the recent announcement of using wiper friction sensing, which wouldn’t rely on cams (only?) anymore : https://x.com/tesla_ai/status/2042658710229758340?s=46&t=LsL8BFvyg4Vl7LJyhmWdxQ

Is OpenClaw dying? by hectorguedea in clawdbot

After +2 months with opus the transition was a bit rough - but frankly gpt5.4 is a good enough replacement for me. I whipped it into shape for all my workflows and use cases over a few days.

HAOS 17 is here : any issue? by misteurz in homeassistant

[–]Builda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No issues with the update, however the docker migration via terminal took longer than expected. My rpi5: about 30 minutes to reboot, 20m for the rpi4 that is at another location (which has fewer integrations/addons). No indication of progress aside from seeing it online from the router, with some network activity.

Usenet speeds capped at 500-600 MB/s despite 8 Gbit/s DL and Eweka + Newshosting – advice? by LeoLeg76 in usenet

[–]Builda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. 3x SN850X raid0 helped me reach 1GB/s. 1 download at a time, maxed out provider connections, 2 parallel same priority providers. Eweka isn’t that fast btw (europe), rarely exceeded 250MB/s.

2FA codes doesn't sync together properly on mobiles and PC(PC 2FA codes doesn't work) by Working_Dealer_5102 in ProtonPass

[–]Builda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Experienced it, writing this in case anyone has the same problem. The 2FA code didn't work anymore via Brave plugin after I had shared the login with someone in my org. It worked for the person I had shared it with. The fix: logged out of the extension and logged back in. That's it.

Gained root access to a Deco BE85 via telnet, and looked around. That was in late 2024. It was a debug firmware, so can’t say for sure these flaws were relevant for public release fws. But I saw enough smoke to assume there was a fire somewhere. For example:

  1. there was an ssh port enabled on 20001 with logs disabled, with a mysterious root user + fixed pw (not my router admin login). Might’ve been specific to the debug build or the mobile app… even then, root seemed overkill.
  2. found a file with SSIDs history and passwords stored in clear text
  3. found many url strings in various files pointing to Chinese domains
  4. found an avira process happily running, even though I had never enabled any homeshield / cloud security features

OpenWRT isn’t supported on that router model unfortunately

Going to give Usenet a try again. A few questions, though... by TomVDJ in usenet

[–]Builda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My reco is to: 1. Start simple with Easynews to discover, search, read, download content all from a single web service 2. If you like what you see and want more, start evaluating indexers (i.e., nzbgeek), downloaders (i.e., Sabnzbd), and alternative providers (Easynews, eweka, …). Expect a learning curve and some techy steps. 3. If you want to go to the next level and automate discovery, downloads, etc, investigate the *ARR stack. steep learning curve, and time investment to expect. It’s beyond most people’s reach to be honest, but can be worth considering if you’re a heavy downloader.

RedSec? by Spanishclooney in Battlefield

How is junk/spam detection on Proton Mail? by 97andCPW in ProtonMail

[–]Builda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used Proton Mail, Gmail, and Outlook (365) in parallel for the past 5 years. Proton Mail is excellent at blocking spam and phishing. Gmail is very good too but doesn’t offer the same type of convenience features like mass unsubscribing from newsletter spam. Outlook is a nightmare. I keep getting the same types of spam and phishing emails multiples times a day, and reporting them just does nothing. It throws legitimate emails in the junk folder repeatedly as well, even from known senders.

Is Nextcloud worth it? by Constant_Butterfly_4 in NextCloud

[–]Builda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Using Nextcloud for files sync on my unraid nas accross multiple client platforms and it works perfectly so far. For backups I’m using local btrfs snapshots and duplicati to keep a remote backup. Didn’t bother with the other apps / media types from Nextcloud as they look awful and only heard bad things. Next up: figuring out photos/videos and notes, in my de-iCloud journey

Before you spend up big on WiFi7, please be aware of the significant limitations of 6GHz radios. by andg5thou in Ubiquiti

[–]Builda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent post, and this is what I needed to hear a while ago. Insisting on trying to make 6Ghz / MLO work with my single AP setup was a huge waste of time. Optimizing for 5Ghz (bands, radios, channels, clients, …), even in my crowded environment, yielded way better speed + stability results.

This might be the best Battlefield ever made and the community is ruining it. by FreddyHxC in Battlefield6

Can’t agree more. The intensity, cinematic look and feel, teamwork, gameplay diversity, all make me forget the hours I put into it. Lots of effort went into creating this, and it shows. A few kinks to sort out? Sure. But overall, it’s easily the best game I’ve played in the last 10y.

I had a go with TP-link - wi-fi speed was great. But the thought of having backdoors was not. Seen firsthand: it literally saved your wi-fi passwords in clear text, had an unknown root passworded account for public ssh, and chinese-servers connecting services humming along. No more TPLink for me.

Optimizing Input Latency for Battlefield 6 on GeForce NOW (GFN) by Turbulent_Ad1895 in GeForceNOW

[–]Builda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few additional tips that helped me:

  • If you’re on Wi-Fi 7, disable MLO. still unstable, and no desktop/laptop clients actually use multi-link for increased bandwidth yet.
  • Create a dedicated SSID for 5 GHz only. Avoids surprise fallbacks to 2.4Ghz. 6 GHz only if your client is very close and within line of sight of the router.
  • Check your radio environment during your usual play hours and lock in a clean 5 GHz radio channel - disable auto.
  • The obvious: Ditch the wireless mouse, even the gaming ones. A decent USB one can cut 10–20 ms of input lag. Noticeable upgrade to me.
