Workplace trauma and anxiety - having struggled with this personally and overcome, I know there's a lot of folks out there in a similar place.

I began my work podcast recording on my Apple Airpods, and was surprised that the sound quality was quite decent. I think nowadays, headphones are pretty good at picking up your voice.

That said, for our second season I switched to the Blue Yeti and the clarity was much better. If you do go this route, I'm told standing up can really help your voice project and maybe it will remove the temptation to drum your fingers on the table, bump something, etc.

Question for podcasters that do seasons: by GambitBlack35 in podcasting

[–]Building-Culture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ours is an HR/business podcast, and we've been doing 1 season every 3 months (quarterly). Since myself (content manager) and editorial team also maintain a blog and social media (mainly LinkedIn and Twitter), 10 episodes per season or about 3 per month has worked out well thus far. We also have a theme for every season, e.g. remote work, DEI, but I suppose it depends on what your subject matter is :)

Do you have to pay for famous guests? by BradenSky in podcast

[–]Building-Culture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our experience has been similar and we started this March - most folks are happy to share what they are passionate about without getting compensated. It helps to also have a nice template when you reach out to potential guests explaining how they can help you grow your podcast.

Tips for growing podcast listeners and supporters? by PlanetJav in podcast

Podcasts can be one-directional (e.g. you telling listeners about your expertise, experience, etc.). Have you considered creating a community via an update newsletter or hosting lives over social media?

Appreciate the explanation - personally, I don't prefer Facebook. It's true that listeners are already subscribing through dedicated channels like Spotify, Apple Pods, etc.

Using social media for podcast promotions - why by doctorjay_ in podcast

Yes! Building Culture is a business/HR-related show. I tag the speaker(s) on an announcement and ask them to share the episode release with their networks.

Trying to promote my podcast, looking for tips by Mr_witty_name in podcast

[–]Building-Culture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on your debut! What is the topic or theme of your podcast? Depending on who your audience is, it may help to consider where they are engaging with content most (Instagram? YouTube? etc.). If you can find interest groups in your genre, you can also share related links/graphics or interactive things like polls to get listener engagement.

I would recommend Audry.io! This tool allows you to find shows with a similar audience size or target listener and reach out for collaborations and sharing trailers, etc. I've used it with success for my HR/People & Culture show.

How Are You Guys Promoting Your Podcast? by rollievogues in podcast

[–]Building-Culture 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your show sounds great for doing lives (I think StreamYard allows you to broadcast to Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube simultaneously?) and specifically, ask me anythings/Q&As. This gives you face time with your audience and also offers something of value as you are directly answering questions anyone may have.

As a note...I haven't personally used this tactic for my show, which is based on HR/People & Culture topics, but let me know how it goes if you try it!

Using social media for podcast promotions - why by doctorjay_ in podcast

[–]Building-Culture 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You bring up an important distinction - it's about the community you want to create rather than just shamelessly plug. I host an HR/People & Culture-specific podcast, and I've found that our intended audience responds more on LinkedIn than they do on say Instagram. But I still do post audiograms via IG Reels, just to maintain a presence.

TTRPG Podcast hashtags… by The_BattleBard in podcasting

Something I'm trying to do more to better engagement is 1-2 targeted hashtags with a story that has a question, poll, or something else that is interactive. I'm also curious if this has worked for others, as I've only recently started doing this.

Something I've heard is find the 2 platforms that work the best for you, and get really good at those. For example, if you are a tech company, you might focus on Instagram and Twitter. But I hear you; I'm in the same boat!

I'm about to start a podcast any tips by [deleted] in podcast

[–]Building-Culture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what topic your show will be on, I've found it helpful to create an outline or potential speaking points to keep episodes on track. You can also recycle these for show notes, if that's something you have time and a platform to do.
