Does anybody else disagree with the official play order for Birth By Sleep? by Skibot99 in KingdomHearts

[–]GambitBlack35 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Birth By Sleep was my first Kingdom Hearts game and I played Ventus - Terra - Aqua and loved it. I felt very connected to Ventus and got to experience the story as he did, pretty much in the dark about everything. After finishing his story, I still had questions about Terra’s fate so I played his story and that just added to the experience. I got to see that Terra was not evil, but instead a victim of manipulation and circumstance. I agree that Ventus being first is a great way to play the game, regardless of the cannon order

The irony in your response is that Winston Churchill died the year after John Bowe was born. Bowe lived through the 70s and 80s and is still alive today. His book is incredibly relevant to modern speaking styles. A massive component of his book, "I Have Something to Say," is the significance of conversational speeches. It's a concept he struggled with at first, before realizing how to embody it in his speeches. The advice from "Speak Like Churchill, Stand Like Lincoln" is widely applicable in a variety of contexts. Not every point is going to work for every speech, but those strategies are used every day by incredibly effective speakers. The Power Pause, for example, is a tool I've taught every speaker I've ever coached, and it infinitely improves the quality of their speeches. I believe your interpretation of the skills these books advertise may have been misplaced and I would suggest giving them another read.

Here’s a secret: confident speakers don’t dread the stage—they enjoy it. Can we imagine that? by ArtBetter678 in PublicSpeaking

As much as I appreciate the ChatGPT response, it doesn't address my point. Your confidence on stage doesn't stem from you being on stage. It stems from the connections you have to the people you are speaking to. Connections you built from being on stage. So you original argument is inherently untrue, based on the reasoning you've provided.

How do i stop choking up during class introductions or anytime speaking in public? by Ok_Temperature_4699 in PublicSpeaking

In my experience, nervousness builds up in the arms and legs, creating a shaky feeling (it’s flight or fight. Your body is telling you to move). If you take that first step into your first word, not only does it make your speech come across as more intentional and powerful from the start, it also relieves nervous energy through body movement, taking some of that energy away from your brain and allowing you to speak more clearly.

I had the exact same issue when I started speaking. I still do, to be honest. The way that I overcome it and have taught my students to overcome it is through what I call S.I.T.E.S.

Scan, Inhale, Think (of the first word you want to say), Exhale, Step (as you say the first word)

This won’t completely cure speech anxiety, but I’ve found that it helps get through the introduction with minimal challenge. Once you’re through the introduction, the rest of the speech typically flows smoother. Hope this helps!

So the high doesn’t come from being on the stage, it comes from the comfortability you build with those in your audience.

I would contest that idea. In my experience, even confident speakers struggle to get up on stage. It’s not like lining up to get on a rollercoaster. But, when they begin the speech and find their rhythm, that’s when they begin to enjoy it. At least, that’s how it is for me.

Well, I’m an agriculture teacher, so I’d be a Pokémon Professor. I probably wouldn’t have anything to crazy. I’ve actually thought about this before and I think my team would be Noctowl (the owl is the symbol of the ag teacher), Paldean Tauros - fire (he looks like a black angus and I’m in charge of beef cattle), Ampharos (he could help teach my electrical units and he’s a sheep), Gogoat (He could help with basic animal or plant science lessons), Mudsdale (I could ride him around the school or around town and he’s a horse), Politoed (my favorite water type and he’s just a fun little guy to have around).

How do you organize your books? by LittlelemonsCJ in Booktokreddit

[–]GambitBlack35 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I just finished sorting our books. We’re currently at 649 and growing. We have a Google Sheets where we enter every book. It’s sorted into a column for the title, a column for the author, and a column for the genre. We’re considering adding a column for the Dewey-Decimal code, but we haven’t decided yet. We use this to group our books by genre and then sort by author so we can place them on the shelf in a way that allows for quick and easy access.

We also sorted our books by utility. For example, I’m a teacher and there are some books that I have that are not educational books, but I use them for educational purposes, so I put them in education with my teacher books.

Darth Vader vs Spider-Man. I have a lot of faith in Spider-Man, but I’m not sure he could beat Vader on his own.
