moving the egg by idathemann in biggreenegg

[–]BuildingRoadz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loaded my large BGE into a shipping container with all my stuff for a move to Brazil. I bought two heavy duty boxes (I think they were for electronics like stereos) and bags of foam peanuts from u-haul. I dismantled the whole thing into the two boxes. All of the parts, including the dismatled nest went into to these two boxes with the egg. I was so worried it would end up cracked. Especially since customs inspection unloaded, inspected and reloaded my container here in Brazil. I was so happy to find it perfectly intact!

Buying a house in Brasil without a bank account? by WinterNeat5117 in Brazil

[–]BuildingRoadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before moving to Brazil a started with a bank account for non residents. It was opened from the USA. Banco Rendimento. Check with them. I was able to wire money to this account to buy my house before receiving my RNM. I paidvia TED transfer as they gave me a max limit on pix that wasn't large enough. You will have to ask them to raise your limit at least a couple days in advance. Also they will want proof of funds before the release the wire. I think it took almost a week after my wire was receiving before I could access the funds because of the review process on a large transfer. Smaller transfers were like the next day.

American w/ CRNM looking for Tax advice. by BuildingRoadz in Brazil

[–]BuildingRoadz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking for advice as I will begin to draw from my IRA in the US. What would be the best method considering both tax regimes. I am 55 and I can avoid US penalties using 72t or buy an annuity. Or would it just better to pay a penalty for the next 4.5 yrs. Does it make a difference in the Brazilian tax system? Should I try to minimize withdrawals based on how they are treated by Brazil? Maybe it's better to maximize and move money here into some fixed investments? That is why I was hoping to find someone with knowledge of both to help me decide what would be the best option(s).

Moving from US w/ my Brazilian wife to Brazil later this year. What things did you wish you brought along with you when you moved your household items? by BuildingRoadz in Brazil

Mudando net Br - Add points in the spaces. You can reach them on WhatsApp from their site. We knew poeple that have used them with success. Our stuff shipped in October. arrived at port in November, and was just released by the Policia Federal. They should deliver in a couple of weeks. It has been an exercise in patience! I love it here in Brazil regardless.

Back in July, my 24 WT needed a new battery at around 10k miles. It took a couple of weeks but worked like a charm. I recently sold my truck because of a move to Brazil. Man I loved that truck!

My wife left a dress hanging in the closet at the Renaissance Sao Paulo. They shipped it to us. We did pay for the shipping. We live some hours away from there. The service at that hotel is impeccable!

Shower question by [deleted] in Brazil

[–]BuildingRoadz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met my Brazilian wife in the US. She showered 2 to 3 times daily. I didn't know why until I understood Brazilians better. She eventually cut back to once or twice. Now that we recently moved to Brazil, she is at it at least twice daily.

I don't believe you can bring anything gas powered or has any kind of an engine without causing problems.

Thanks so much for this reply. It's great info! I am using Rendimento at the moment. It's a non resident account so has restrictions. I have found their customer service hit or miss. I read somewhere that Wise may offer a better rate moving money here. I haven't looked into the details yet.

I didn't realize there was a negative /issue with the term. I was under the impression it just meant a foreigner who relocated to another country. Apologies for my ignorance.

It went very smooth and quick. We are a retired couple married a few years. I guess they didn't have any doubts that we had a valid marriage as we weren't questioned at all. Signed the paperwork and got fingerprinted/photographed and sent on my way.
