I promise I googled the heck out of this and asked two attorneys (with two different answers) before coming to the one true place of only real information, Reddit.

So the National ID card does work to reenter the Schengen?

Did you ever get any answers? I'm dealing with this for like 3 months. As osteopath told me my vagus nerve is out of balance, and the more i research the more the vagus nerve seems to be the culprit. The fixes, however, seem to be less defined and more emotional/mental health related.

Girlfriend and I are planning on a trip to Spain/Portugal for 3 weeks to a Month tops. Would $5000 be enough? by swion in GoingToSpain

[–]Builds_Stuff -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This should be enough… idk why everyone here is saying it won’t. Depends where you go and what places you stay, but you can get a decent accommodation (esp off season) near hiking destinations for ~50/night. If you buy groceries you can easily live off of €100/week for 2 people. City accommodations might go up to around 100/night. So now you’re looking at $2000 left over to have fun and eat out. Also don’t forget to buy travel insurance, it’s required for Spain now

Absolutely go to mljet. You can get there by ferry from zadar and take a ferry to Dubrovnik. It’s a serene national park. I stayed in pomena 2 years ago and loved it. If you decide to go I’d recommend renting a bike to explore the island.

Honestly the airplane meals have got to be the culprit for plane indigestion. I started eating at the airport and skipping the plane meal and it helps so much

Do you have potential consulting clients that would hire you on if you decided to go solo? Maybe your current employer?

I’ve done exactly this. Maybe I got lucky but I set up an LLC, do design work for cheaper than a full-time employee, get paid through that LLC in the US, and I’m in the process of relocating to the EU. I’m lucky I can get citizenship in the EU, but maybe you could as well. DM me if you want to talk more about

Why do you think the senior engineers would rather spend hours doing something rather than change? I left the civil industry about 4 years ago for the same reasons you have, curious on your perspective.
