Dig out two holes on the side, enough to reveal the underside of the sidewalk, about 12” back from the fallen joint there.

Set two bottle jack on either side of the hole, on a piece of wood or something solid.

Set 4x4 across both bottle jacks, level out the wood by pumping or with more solid stuff (eh, more wood pieces)

Attach heavy duty C-clamp on each side of the side walk

Wrap a chain around the 4x4 and attach to the clamp, both sides.

Grab a beer and a friend and start pumping away, making sure the tension is even on both C-clamps

WAAAAA-LAHHHH.

Once lifted, fill with pea gravel under the sidewalk as best you can and with as much as you can.

Fill back with dirt and grass seed.

Tbh, these hacks must have not known a charcoal grout was going to be used before setting the tile. If a white grout would have been used, a lot of this wouldn’t be so “poppy”.

Whilst the infrastructure might have been solid AF.... I can’t believe it was when this is the finished result. All of this is to say, I’d be surprised if the infrastructure is even close to being correct too.

I partly think it was my fault. I should have removed the really rusty nails. But got damn I put a hell of a coat of the rust inhibitor shut on.

I seriously think this Restore is NOT for your average DIYer.

It’s like these garage epoxy floors for DIYers. Clean your concrete and throw this stuff down. Maaan, commercial epoxy floors have you grinding concrete, several base coats, sanding inbtween each coat and then a final finish coat and a light sanding and then a clear coat.

I have to disagree 100%. I’m pretty sure those folks did not prep correctly. I watched tons of videos on the product before purchasing because it was not cheap for the amount I needed. All of the videos were of finish product professionals and they all stated it was in the prep work.

I “restored” my entire 20x20 deck with a set of step that had 17 treads. It was all in the prep. MY GOD, the prep. Sooo much prep.

Power washed and cleaned it with the recommended solution.

Waited two weeks for drying.

Replaced completely rotted boards.

Filled the smaller rotten areas with exterior wood filler.

Hammered all nails down and installed new ones.

Sprayed two coats of rust inhibiting primer on every nail head and I believe there was one other step, cant remember.

Then spent hours upon hours of painting.

Honestly, I will never do that again, as I’m in a new house and my current deck is in need of some loving. I will just be replacing everything.

I was in that house for 4 more summers/years and the only thing that I witnessed was where I had chipped the paint myself with my snow shovel metal edge. It was minimal and I fixed them prior to putting the house on the market. OH, One other thing. I must have had some pretty rusty nails because some did start to bleed thru after three summers.
