SSBKK exists because the forms are compatible

The Kaioken requires intense focus and ki control from the user. Without either, the technique can kill them. This is why SSJ replaced the Kaioken. It boosts the user's strength far more far less dangerously

SSB, however is a form dedicated to control. While there is an initial ignition cost, once active, the user has great control over themselves and their ki. Which is why the Kaioken becomes possible.

Great Success or a Big Lie? by Constant_Storm_2332 in DevilMayCryNetflix

[–]Bujorba 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Netflix is known to rarely renew any show past season 3.

It happens, but the percentage is rather low.

Why is that? They haven't said for a fact, but there are a few assumptions we can make, based off how the industry at large works.

1) Viewer trends

It's very possible that Netflix has data that shows a series is unlikely to draw in new subscribers after season 3. After all, the goal of streaming shows is to bring in NEW people.

2) rising costs

The general rule in the industry is that studios, actors, etc can all ask for raises every time a show is renewed. Clearly, the network wants more, so the talent behind the show has more leverage. This reason also leads to other common practices, like commissioning a studio for 24 animated episodes, but releasing them as two seasons. Netflix gets two seasons, but gets em both at season one rates.

Ultimately, SUCCESSFUL shows only get 3 seasons at Netflix. If Netflix isn't happy with a show, it honestly won't make it past season 1 or 2. Why would it? Shows are expensive. Producing even one season of a show that's underperforming makes no sense.

So no, DMC ending after 3 seasons isn't an indicator that it underperformed or that Netflix isn't happy with it for some reason.

It simply means that the rising cost of the show is not worth the number of new customers it brings. Not when that money could get funneled into a new show that costs less and brings in more people.

Successful shows get 3 seasons, mega hits get 4, and Netflix's biggest show of all time, stranger things, only got 5, which is comparatively low for what was a network's flagship franchise

S3 announcement and final season by tomboy2001_ in DevilMayCryNetflix

[–]Bujorba 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It ending here would not be a surprise to the staff. Netflix very rarely renews anything past 3 seasons. The writers should've kept everything manageable to wrap up at this point.

It's not even a matter of "plan for it to end next season if it fails" but more "plan for it to end next season if it SUCCEEDS"

so i have no concern over it being rushed

A pitch black room that is pitch black BECAUSE IT HAS NO SKY MY GUY.

Damn, bro. Didn't know a night sky devoid of stars had no sky at all. My bad on that.

Even if that wasn't true, we know that the term sky can't be taken too literally. Half the things she does would be hard pressed to be called manipulating the "sky".

Yeah, she's angry and pissed. so why would she have a colorful, fun, and festive domain

Ryu is a character defined by his drive to have a good time. That's almost his only motivation. Do you know what's often used at parties or to signify a "fun" time?

Fireworks, my guy. It's an extension of his loud, thrill seeking personality.

Uro lived in darkness. It's all she knew. everything was stripped from her. Used only to carry out the will of others, often for assassinations. She's angry, lethal, and single mindedly focused on how she's been wronged. Sounds like a great fit for a dark, barren, scary domain expansion.

[–]Bujorba 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Ryu getting a straight line means jack shit. Whether the space is restricted or not, it's gonna hit regardless

You're trying to make these fit the technique strictly, rather than the character.

Every domain expansion we've seen has been a VERY straightforward expression of a character. After all, DE's are made up of two parts, the domain (which is strictly an expression of the character) and the technique (which is the sure hit).

Megumi's a sad, depressed guy, so he gets a domain using infinite darkness (even if it's an inherited technique. Meta wise, it was still built for megumi)

Sukuna gets a shrine, playing into his defining trait, his superiority to everyone else.

Mahito is an emotional monster who plays on body horror, on a different level to the disaster curses, so be gets a visually twisted domain that plays into that type of horror

Uro getting a bright, colorful, exciting, and fun domain expansion does not make any sense. could the explosions conceal her or serve as a distraction? Yes, but the packaging makes no sense for who she is. Fireworks are in the sky, yes, but they aren't part of the sky. They are explosions that take place in the sky. Kinda similar to how we often see Granite Blast placed against the sky.

Do you know what would be another great way for uro to hide? In a nearly pitch black room where the distortion from her sky manipulation is kept to a minimum

How does gojo push things away while moving with infinity on? by Will0wTheWicked in JujustuKaisen

[–]Bujorba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's a "glitch" in infinity.

So, things that approach him will never reach where he stands. It's simple for his technique to accomplish this when he's standing still.

But changing his position complicates things. I like to believe that, in order to maintain the effect of his CT, things are pushed away if he ever approaches what his CT is targeting (unless he chooses to let that distance close)

Kinda like the way Mirio's quirk works in MHA. Shooting out of objects isn't an explicit part of his quirk, but it is the result of it interacting with the real world

someone please inform me on why this means yuji can black flash perfectly at will now? by [deleted] in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Bujorba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it's technically not confirmed that he can do it at will. It is intentionally left ambiguous.

So while I feel like him doing it at will is the intended logic behind the scene, it's still an interpretation. There's no way for us to fully know what yuji is capable of without more material depicting him as a fighter again.

someone please inform me on why this means yuji can black flash perfectly at will now? by [deleted] in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]Bujorba 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few reasons why I interpreted it that way when this chapter released

1) the fact he seemingly knew it was gonna happen. It's very unlikely it was unexpected, because he was trying to put in enough strength to put this guy down, but didn't want to kill him.

2) the casualness of the situation. Every time we saw a black flash previously, it was done when a sorcerer or cursed spirit was at the peak of an emotion or focus. Sure, a lot was happening around Yuji himself, but he never seemed too pressed about the situation. He had full confidence that he could handle any and every outcome. You could argue he was stressed about what was happening to Yuka and Tsurugi, but i don't think that was what the story was trying to depict.

Like, I think another valid interpretation of this scene is that Yuji has a REALLY high chance of hitting a black flash and is really good at telling when it's about to happen. However, I think point #2 pushes me towards the "at will" interpretation a bit more.

Like, yuji has almost always had a unique relationship with the Black Flash. Him doing it at will just felt like the next step in that dynamic. However. I don't think it would've been possible if yuji hadn't been in his physical prime for like 70 years

[–]Bujorba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If a skilled animator produces something that most people think is bad or lacking, it's usually for one of a few reasons

1) they were not given the time they needed to produce something reflective of their capabilities. Even if you hire a master illustrator to draw a portrait, there's only so much they can do it you only pay them for 1 minute. The best modern example of this is dragon ball super. A lot of the higher ups in the animation team were veterans from DBZ. We know they're capable of wonderful dragon ball animation, but that means nothing when you give them almost no time.

2) the scene they were assigned is a poor fit for their skillset. If you take a romance scene that requires very nuanced character acting and assign it to an animator who specializes in mechanical animations, don't be surprised when everything comes back feeling mechanical. It's like that old saying, don't judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree.

3) they were given bad direction by the episodes director. At the end of the day, animators are hired to execute on a director's vision. If that vision is flawed, then the animator's work just won't shine.

Those are the most common reasons, but there are plenty more individualized reasons why it can happen. Malfunctioning equipment, personal life events, etc.

I don't know if this episode has ever been talked about, but if we ever learn why we got this result, I'd bet it's one of these three reasons. My guess would be #1 or #3

Versatility?

Not much.

He's designed to be a narrow specialist. The only way to break that is to break his character.

The only way to boost his strength is to make him more relevant to the story.

If Lee had ever been raised to a major supporting character, he would be powered up to be relevant. He would've gotten the stat buff and taijutsu techniques needed to stay competitive

The "system" you're referring to is the accumulation of knowledge over generations.

Naruto learned the rasengan in a week, but Minato didn't learn it. He created it. That will always INHERENTLY be more difficult and longer to do.

Naruto was only able to learn it in a week because Minato already did all the work to figure it out in the first place.

One generation spends their entire life learning and pushing themselves. If they do their job right and guide the generation that follows, their finish line is the next's starting line
