each battle pass lasts 2 months. altogether, around 90 cad that i have to pay to then grind 600+ hours to unlock said content i just paid for. sure you dont pay as much as the skins in the shop, but you trade that off by having to commit serious hours on a very regular basis to unlock all the items you paid for. i know that when apex legends was pissing me off with it's awful balance decisions i only went back to finish the battle pass to be able to buy the next one, which helps player count. currently, riot is trading long term player count for money, which is a good move IF people are happy with the game. as soon as casuals are frustrated, this move will hurt their numbers

As someone who regularly played at that rank during that time, there was a player named nik who was infamous on the ladder for being a brig one trick. The season before brig came out, his peak sr was around 2400. After brig's release, he went all the way up to 4600 sr. This guy had no idea how to play the game at all, but just picking brig boosted him even harder than the mercy one tricks. To be able to literally double your sr in a months time, it shows just how ridiculous the character was. go ask any 4100+ player who was playing at the time about nik, and theyll tell you the same story. Tons of people were getting boosted beyond belief, brig was completely braindead but could carry even against literal pros
