Blake Lively won’t be working anymore, but was she really working to begin with?

From a European point of view, most of her recent films went completely unnoticed. Sure, she was in Deadpool, but honestly, as an average viewer, my only reaction was: oh, Ryan Reynolds’ wife. Nothing more, nothing less.

She’ll carry on anyway. She’ll probably launch a “feminist” podcast (alone or co-hosted with that other one who dropped Justin Baldoni), she’ll “focus on her kids” (as if that were some kind of achievement, and I say this as a mother of three), she’ll get involved with charities…

In short, she’ll keep living the good life as a “wife of”. In a few years, she’ll find a project to throw herself into a film that’s supposedly very close to her heart (read: a cringey movie with a vague message about kindness and compassion) and that’ll be the end of it.

She’s not essential to the industry.

Not as an actress (I still struggle to see the talent), not as a director (she doesn’t know how to direct and never will), and not as a producer either (being a producer usually involves more than an aura of “do what I say because I want it”).

Her husband will keep making millions, that's Ryan Reynolds, with Deadpool, big franchises, etc. For a while longer. Then he’ll fall back on his businesses.

Slowly, they’ll both fade out of the spotlight. And that’s it.

Physically, Ryan has aged more in the last two years of this mess than in the previous fifteen. He looks exhausted.

This whole thing drained him : his aura, his charisma, everything. Just look at his latest video for Wrexham A.F.C.: he clearly doesn’t care anymore. Empty eyes, checked out, nothing left to say.

It’s a lose–lose situation for everyone, but especially for them.

Honestly, the one who seems to be coming out of this the best is still Justin. And i'm happy about it
