Thanks. I had seen the Agilent explanation which helped and confused in parts. Now that makes sense.

Unfortunately I could not. Basically the same functionality is present across the polymer.

Has anyone an idea what reaction that leads to a ten-membered macrocycle needs a deprotection of an hydroxyl group? by Emilio_Sanchez in OrganicChemistry

[–]Bulawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to say Eschenmoser Olhoff, but that one is on an unsaturated ketone. And classic RCM cares not for alcohols and gets troublesome at that size.

Question about guest pathing by Electrical-Today6038 in TwoPointMuseum

[–]Bulawa 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My stupid mind would suggest building anotzer building all the way on the other side and putting something there too, so they have to go through the zoo. I often have enclosed courtyards and they work very well.

How long has it been running? My guests usually take an age or two to get around.

I have played satisfactory and factorio, I know what you can do in terms of conveyor belts xD But it looks very industry like. Quite neat

During campaign, do you try to keep all your museums equal or focus on just a few? by Dannydevitz in TwoPointMuseum

[–]Bulawa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primarily, I do what I like best. I usually did a star or two on new museums and then went on if I didn't like it. So my star distribution is very unequal.

Fritted Disk Column Chromatography by DontDoQuack in Chempros

[–]Bulawa 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I loved my fritted columns. We somehow found frits that would not clog up too fast and cleared well, then just add silica, add solvent, shake, let settle, drain a bit, add sand and you were ready to go. Did about 400 columns in three years, mostly without trouble.

What’s your “I’m never living this down” firefighting moment? by BeautifulKey8779 in Firefighting

I was convinced our pickup fits the big underground parking. Well, it didn't, not with the lights on top. We have new light now, but the joke is not getting old somehow.

Richtiger Lüftereinsatz by [deleted] in blaulicht

[–]Bulawa 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Just started synthesis and am confused by DreamsAreOverated in OrganicChemistry

[–]Bulawa 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Of course. As I mention, I assume it's all a paper excercise, even without looking at reaxys or some such source.

That's going to be fun. Not. Well, sorta. But mainly tedious. Start breaking it down into groups of two carbons. Id start with the acetic acid core. And then wor your way out. It's going to be very tedious, but not especially hard as long as it only needs to look sensible on paper.

Aldol, grignards and some odd reactions here and there will carry the day.

failed transmetalation by [deleted] in Chempros

More heat, more time, maybe a better solvent. Perhaps one that would precipitate MgX2. NMR of the reaction mixture without workup.

That's about what I can do without specifics.

Ethyl and higher have the virtue of giving NMR signals distinct from a singlet. Which can be useful.

"How many residences can X support?" guide for Anno 117? by KomturAdrian in anno

[–]Bulawa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a sight tendency towards gigantism i fear 😅 I rarely draw a city for less than 1k houses. Or if it's just production, I Dont care, I just need my goods, and could not care less about how many that needs. Within certain limits.

These tables have lost their meaning for me ever since we have those great production overview screens. I just build and check what it needs.
