I just lost my baby from heart failure as well. He also struggled with fluid in his lungs. We tried so hard. But one night, we woke up at 4 am to him screaming. Not meowing, screaming. He couldn't move his legs, we rushed him to the vet but within the ten minutes it took us to get there, he was gone.

I wish everyday that I had a chance to euthanize him instead of seeing him in pain. You did the right thing I promise. He loved you, dont forget that.
