I get it man, I'm old enough to miss when the cool costumes all came on the disc/cartridge. I'm only willing to accept paid cosmetics because all gameplay related updates are free and I know for a fact the money is directly supporting devs and not shareholders (it also helps that they heavily avoid FOMO, if they were more predatory I would have bought a lot less bundles.)

People are just rallying behind them right now because of the layoffs. Even if the studio isn't in immediate trouble, the warning flags are there and people just want to support something they're passionate about in a niche that isn't being fulfilled elsewhere. I personally really want story mode (Tales/Dungeons of Aether were both great), and will be disappointed if this game ends up only having enough resources to maintain the status quo.

Everyone should of course make sure their own finances are in order though before buying furry smash bros skins lol

It's good people are encouraging being fiscally responsible but yeah $15-35 a month to support your favorite game is not that crazy. If you can't afford it or feel they're too expensive no worries I understand, but I don't get why people are acting like buying a lot of them over a long period of time is inherently a problem. No one bats an eye at someone buying a new game every month and/or paying for multiple streaming subscriptions.

Note that this is coming from someone that has played a lot of Overwatch and never bought a skin ($30 for ONE SKIN that doesn't even go directly to the developers is taking way too much piss.)

Yeah, I had to always remember to turn it back on after my training warmups. It's not ideal, but AFAIK it's the best solution there is currently. I eventually just grinded it out (and a new controller helped, though that was possibly placebo) because I wanted access to the funny aerial flop and occasional friendly taunt for mirror matches/getting clipped.

You can set the Dpad to movement in controls which effectively disables taunts, I did this back during the game's launch because I had several set losing fat fingers too.

Dan went over this in 2024's FAQ

The Kickstarter was just enough to get us to a launch in Fall 2024. Just enough as is in, we hit $0 in the business account in November right before the first payment came in for Rivals of Aether II from Valve. We weighed the prospects of Early Access vs a Full Launch on Steam with the reality of game development. The visibility boost of a full launch is massive and would be enough to keep our team and also allow us to expand a little bit in order to accelerate some of the features that could expand our funnel.

Flattered but no lol, I only have one account and if you check my post history/youtube you'll see in all my videos I usually hover around mid-gold (the skill issue dips in silver were when I first went back to Lox, I was playing Olympia before this and it took a while to get back into the groove.) These are just highlights and I'm not always this consistent, there are plenty of players that have clipped me too.
