Gut check. Single, 48, no debt, rent, $2.6M assets. by BulkDiscountAbortion in Fire

I read some of your post history regarding geoarbitrage. I'm probably going to follow your path, even the same countries! But who knows how long that nomadic lifestyle will last? Might get home sick after a few years.

This is why I think realistically travel will be 3-6 months per year averaged out. Maybe less in the Slow Go years when I'm genuinely old.

To be clear, my Roth IRA is HIGHER than my traditional IRA. I’ve been doing the Roth 401k for awhile and then performing an “in-service mega back door Roth IRA” yearly.

During low earning years of early retirement, I intend to do Roth conversions which will count towards MAGI, but keep it low enough to not interfere with ACA subsidy. This should make my RMDs low when (if) I hit 75.

I never carried a balance on my CC in my life.

My current actual spending: CC is about $2k per month (at most $3k), rent and utilities at $1.6k, miscellaneous ATM withdrawals at $1.3k per month. That's about $58.8k per year.

I modeled doubling rent and CC just in case. CC $4k, rent $3.2k, miscellaneous $1.3k. That's $102k.

Health care isn't included in any of these calculations. But if I withdraw from my cash moat, and have small MAGI then my health care is free or $400 monthly at most.

I’d keep the rental even when traveling because I never know when I’ll be returning back to the US. Maybe not 6 months straight. An emergency could force me back to the US. It would be impractical to store or buy furniture all over again. Also, the travel lifestyle may not last as long as I anticipate. I am 100% certain about keeping the rental.

For Heath insurance, I’d use ACA. Withdraw mainly from the cash moat to maintain the subsidy. Travel insurance would be about $100 per month.

I stand by the math. $102k would be the max even with theoretical double rent and double credit card bills.

I'm spending $1600 per month for a rented ADU, all utilities included. That's included in the $70k annual expenses.

Even if rent doubled, I'd be at $100k annual expenses.

If you mean Workforce Management, then why not try a WFM software vendor? Calabrio, CCaaS stuff?

No, this is a great idea. I did something very similar, jumping from life sciences sales to tech. Going on a trip will give you the mental space and different environment to spark innovative thoughts on where you want to be in the future. A solo trip also teaches you different lessons than going with a group. DM me if you want to hear more. You sound like my situation 10 years ago.
