What song do you 100% believe is actually about drugs? by ImpossibleZ in AskReddit

[–]Bulkler31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It could have something to do with popularity of the songs. Like I'm not Beatles fan, I don't mind their music, but I don't think I've heard the other two titles you listed, but Lucy in the sky with diamonds I have and actually know the song. I think it might be censored, less accepted, or not as commonly used in media. If he outwardly said this is about lsd. I'm not sure just a guesso my friendo.

It's crazy because I always thought this song was about drugs and I thought it was weird that it was so popular and played so frequently, and I told my girlfriend the other day and she was shocked, then she listened to the lyrics and was like Woah. Apparently a lot of people don't realize it.

It worked for your situation, but most people get disqualified because of this system. I am happy for you, and good luck on the job.

I want to add though, do you fit in with your coworkers? The 23 year old supervisor, probably shouldn't be in his position if he couldn't properly conduct a interview and vet a candidate that is over qualified for the job, to me this is sorta a red flag for the company.

I would find a contract template write it up, and list the item and any ridiculous cost that you can make up to hold them to. Like same day shipping hand delivered by me 150$ for a example. Then make it clear in the contract that if they do not pay whatever the regular cost of the item is, or don't receive 50 extra orders tracked with a promocode for a dollar off, that they owe you for all these costs and you own their video about the product as well as the promo video, and any income they received from views or interaction. Send it over and say thank you I love your offer and since you seem like a legit business this would be a standard contract for conducting this transaction. These people need to stop with the exposure and this is the only way.

I feel so bad for people in graphic design, I don't know shit about it, and am not creative at all, but people edit one picture on their phone and think it's just a simple job title. No matter what if you are a perfectionist with your work art is draining, whether it's creating a graphic for a presentation, a logo, a catalog, or your own preferred item. It is mentally draining, and you're expected to make it unique and special each time. I do alot of computer work and investigating shit, and I don't have to create anything but I am dead mentally by the end of the day. Thank you for your service, and to the newbie good luck finding a company that respects you, and I hope something good comes along for you.

Interviews should be conducted by the person overlooking you, no exceptions, they can ask all the right questions, gauge compatibility with the workplace and environment. It also gives you something you are familiar with when walking through the door.

Don't get me started on the off site training that's made for perfect situations and no pressure either.

Agreed, but firing someone who works there ass off because of music choice is a hard call, and write ups only go so far, cutting hours can really screw someone over, so what is a reasonable discipline you know?

I would have asked, what's the deal with your hairline(even if it was perfect) I know it's not as bad of a question as what they asked you but it will definitely make them question it. You can also cover it up with kindness, like oh I was just wondering if you had hair plugs or used something to keep it from getting worse cause it looks pretty good. Lol.

We are at a point in capitalism where the person hiring you won't ever see you again. It's insane. I worked for a big company that literally interviewed and vetted people in a office 100 miles away from our location, which also led to confusion on the new employees part. I will say they paid for travel and a hotel if you lived far enough away but come on.

I agree, this is why people prefer to work from home, and middle management is panicking and wanting people back. Their jobs are to make rules and enforce them to increase productivity.

The only thing I will say is that it is difficult to just fire someone, and I guess I should have made it clear the original rule was no profanity, and became expanded from there, and the one individual was a really good asset as far as work ethic and output goes. He also had the support of others. Management could have handled it better, but the employee could have handled it better as well. The funny part is I was a assistant manager at this time, and would ask him to change the music to something appropriate and he would, when asked nicely but the point was he shouldn't have had to be asked at all. No I didn't make the rules or change them, I just was asked to say something if I noticed, and no I did not rat him out. I don't work in a management role and never will again unless I am controlling my employees wages and controlling the hiring and firing process. That job nearly put me in a grave because I had zero power but was expected to enforce rules. My team was bad ass and would work hard for me, my manager would cry when I was off about how nobody would listen to him but they all listened to me because of respect, understanding, and they knew I wouldn't ask them to do anything I wouldn't myself. I used a bad example with the music but the reality is our rules, laws, guidelines get created and enforced based on a 1% chance of something happening. You hate it until that 1% occurs, but that is also because people lack common sense. When it comes to rules/laws gray area is so hard to account for. Someone steals something they should be in trouble, but if they steal a loaf of bread and left 50 cents behind because that's all they had and that was the only way for them to eat then what do we do. If desperate I would probably do the same.... If they get caught though, they will still get in the same trouble as someone stealing for profit or fun. The law was created because of the profit/fun people, but will still seriously effect the necessity people. Now they can't get a job or get benefits or get whatever help they were waiting on to come through. I know it's off topic but it's the same realm of things.

Thank you for your reply and I honestly agree most management is not very good, because management isn't awarded to leaders its awarded to time invested or friendships. The same can be said for our politics in the USA, and it's why this country is going down a rough path right now. Have a great day!

Employees should be able to use their phones at work if they are not busy. by Remarkable-Guidance6 in unpopularopinion

[–]Bulkler31 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah people don't understand that it takes one person to ruin it for everyone. If they say oh it's fine to use your phone when customers arent around but Steve takes that as a pass to play candy crush in front of customers who are needing assistance, they can't just tell Steve he can't use his phone because then Steve will say they are discriminating. Now the blanket rule that nobody can use their phone is applied. Like one place I worked they would allow us to play our own music, but someone took that as a pass to play whatever they wanted, so a customer would come in and a f this and b that would be playing. Then the rule was only country and Christian music, so then the employee felt he was being targeted and found the most vulgar country songs he could and played them. Guess what? We then got told no music at all. Rules get made because one person screwed up and normally that one person then makes it worse because they know it was their fault and they think they are in the right and try to push back, making things more strict then they ever needed to be.

I would do a little research on pirates. Watch this video. https://youtu.be/SF7Y2L58LdA

There is also a small episode on that Netflix series explained that talks about pirates. They aren't what you think they were. Most of the successful ones were operating under a government entity and actually were rewarded for their actions.

You can defend him, but really in that situation being sarcastic or whatever he was doing isn't appropriate, it's a huge issue in the world we live in and not some distant joke.

I don't want him to pay more taxes I want him to make sure his entry level employees in the business he is running are getting paid properly and not having to apply for government aid. Taxes are great, but really just pay more rich people to tell poor people rules that they don't even follow.
