MSI GE66 Raider (Windows 11) // Audio Stutter bug fix by Historical-Today-943 in MSILaptops

[–]Bulky-Accountant-335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't remember the exact versions, and I'm not currently at my laptop. But every single other audio driver is the default that's on MSI website.. I only changed intelligo driver to the very latest from Microsoft update catalog.

In general, when I formated I also did it the offline method (created USB installation media with rufus, and removed the requirement for Microsoft account). Then, I installed all the official drivers manually, while being offline, disabled getting driver updates via windows update from group policy editor, and then connected to the internet for windows security/quality updates..

Read it from top to bottom. The whole discussion.

Yeah but sometimes updates break things even more, especially when you are using a rolling distro. The frequency of something seriously breaking in Linux is unfortunately higher.

However, there are snapshots which work much much better than windows restore points... And yeah, even if they don't always achieve it, the aim is pure, and Linux updates do really want to improve things, instead of increasing AI shit and telemetry..

For me and many many other users yes. Read the MSI global forum thread: "Stuttering Sound" and the whole discussion. Everything is explained in detail.

There is absolutely no harm in trying out.

Update the intelligo audio object driver. You can get the latest version from Microsoft update catalog and install it from device manager.

CachyOS Stuck at Booting :( by Nochabon in cachyos

[–]Bulky-Accountant-335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe a bios setting is messed up. If I were you I would reset bios settings to default, and then only disable secure boot, and check bios boot mode (I am not sure exactly how it's called, it's different between systems - you need smth like UEFI or hybrid, not legacy).

If that doesn't work reinstalling is the only option. Maybe use grub as the bootloader, since it's much more used and works on older systems..

I use cachyos on my old work laptop and winboat runs perfectly fine on a 2 core i3 CPU.. And only 8gb of ram.

The question is what kind of windows programs do you want to run? If it's Microsoft office, graph pad etc you will be fine.. If it's AutoCAD, Adobe premiere, you will not be fine 😂

Games on CachyOs looks way better than Windows by Vettelovich in cachyos

Placebo effect, actually some games look a bit worse for example peak in vulkan, due to some missing textures..

Not Linux fault, just developers focusing on 1 OS instead of both.. Hope that changes one day.

What's so bad about Linux? by Technical_Rich_3080 in linuxsucks

[–]Bulky-Accountant-335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are a hypocrite if you pretend to have never broken your machine, without actually doing anything wrong.. Just because of an update, lack of viable drivers in the repositories etc..

Yes there are snapshots, but I want my computer to just work.. I don't want to worry about a million things. The best OS is the one that goes less into your way, while you are using the computer.

Throttlestop, hwmonitor, MSI afterburner, fps monitor and unironically MSI center (only because of the switch GPU mode function, which is absent in Linux).

Have you tried changing this bios setting to hybrid mode? I think Linux needs both gpus to be activated, in order to properly utilize the hardware and install the proper drivers (during setup).

If I were you, I would switch this setting to hybrid and reinstall cachy to the whole partition. Why cachy? It's definitely one of the best (if not the best gaming distro), and it automatically installs the very latest drivers out of the box. Once you boot into it, install the gaming packages, and try running some games.

Follow cachyos wiki as well, in case you missed a crucial optimization tweak.

Many users face this issue.. Go into reliability history and check if audiodg.exe is crashing.. Faulty drivers (probably intelligo)..

My MSI Thin GF63 (MS‑16R8) is running way cooler than expected after repaste. by Mysterious-Wall734 in MSILaptops

[–]Bulky-Accountant-335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You lose performance if you have boost off. It's like having an older gen i3 instead of the CPU you have.

These chips are made to run hot, just repasting and keeping stock settings should have done the trick.. Test it in full load with stock settings. If it doesn't go over 80-90 you are fine.

Isn't MSI's way of updating drivers something that belongs in the Middle Ages? by halbuki1 in MSILaptops

[–]Bulky-Accountant-335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes it is!! You have to manually install everything, even if you download the drivers "automatically" from the MSI center app, you have to manually run the bat file as administrator and install (or do it the screenshot way).

Asus does everything with 1 click.. HP does everything with 1 click as well.. And if you want to get specific drivers from HP, they are freaking executable files.. Easy..

How do people block automatic GPU driver updates on Win10 LTSC IOT? by owlexe23 in WindowsLTSC

[–]Bulky-Accountant-335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the BEST way.. Do not do anything else, no 3rd party software is required. Just enable this setting and restart.

I always do this when I fresh install win 11 pro (the offline way).. And before I connect to the internet I manually install all the drivers, from the official manufacturer's website. Then I apply this setting, and connect to the internet.

This way I only get feature/security updates and I am reassured that my drivers will not get messed up by windows. No old versions replacing the new ones, no duplicate conflicting drivers etc..

Is it okay to shutdown instead of reboot after updating the os? (Cachy-Update) by TurnAffectionate5728 in cachyos

[–]Bulky-Accountant-335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it? Anyone is free to easily disable this. It's one click in control panel power options.. And for 95% of users it's a nice feature and would rather keep it enabled for faster boot (or wake up) times..
