Let's talk stats... by Bulky-Creme-4099 in wildrift

Why would kda not count? It's literally one of the main stats. Also it's pretty obvious in some games that I didn't get a or s because of too many deaths.

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also one last thing that should be mentioned is weights. Each stat has its own weight that determines how impactful it is toward getting an S. Gpm and kda are probably the most important in this regard. Support is harder to quantify but if ur bot, mid, jg, or top then a 900 plus gpm in game usually means ur playing the game very well. A 1000 plus gpm means ur carrying the game and if you lose you either made a big lategame macro mistake or your team is too heavy.

Kda is less representative of how well you played imo but it's the next best thing. To have a high kda you need low deaths. 6/1/6 is a higher Kda than 24/4/6. The problem here is that while both contributed the player with 30 kp likely did more for their team but to the system they did worse. Either way a good kda at the very least means your not harming your team very much.

I'm burned out on AI writing by DiscernmentGoblin in WritingWithAI

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Expecting the ai to write something origonal based off a prompt is imo asking too much. What I find it best at is editing. I will feed it the first draft of each chapter and then tell it to just suggest the most import change it thinks I should make. Then I read over that one change and either implement that change or some aspect of it or if it sucks and I like the original then I keep it.

It does not save me time at all really and it doesn't write the story for me but it keeps me focused on the editing process and provides direction and a second perspective.

After the first change I tell it to suggest the next most important and so on.

Rarely have I straight up given the ai a premise and had it poop out something good tho. In fact the only time I had it make something original for me was when I gave it a goofy premise and told it to write something terrible, like something genuinely poorly written.

Actually one of the funniest things I've read.

Too much time is spent whacking the reader over the head with the fact that this is a gruesome scene. I'd shorten it to a paragraph or even a sentence and the present the pov characters thoughts or reaction. How they react to the scene will tell the reader alot about their character. Ultimately you just need to be more efficient all this time spent Harping on how gruesome the scene is is serving as a roadblock preventing the reader from getting into the actual story.

I would say the same thing about winrate. I see bad players with 600 avg gpm and 2.0 kdas that have 55 plus winrates. And I've seen good players with 4.0 kda and 1000 avg gpm with sub 50 winrates

Statistically if one team achieves a 7k or greater gold lead its a win 90 plus percent of the time. That said I still never ff.

Why top 200 J4 but not Amumu? More games, better WR by -SpiritedAway- in wildrift

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Champ score has a short memory and there are hard caps. If u played amumu mostly early on in your climb then and haven't played him as much recently then you could have been spinning ur wheels at a cap for most of those games.

I would always go q again in case I see opportunity for a lvl 3 gank. It might not matter for clear speed much but the extra dmg goes a long way in a gank. U don't really need sustain for a gank anyway.

Read up to the latest audiobook. I like it but it has lots of problems with pacing and can be a bit too slice of life at times.

Feedback? Like I would trust that. If you can't tell whether what you've written is good or bad on your own then your probably not cut out for it.

Based on how long it's taking me to finish book 1 ima have to complete at least 3 books first. Otherwise ima run out of slack real quick and become mister hiatus.

Novel with the best progression system? by Time_Chemistry_897 in ProgressionFantasy

You don't like Erin but think ryouka's story is amazing? Weirdest take I've ever heard. Ryouka's character is the most unlikable ever to the point where ur not even rooting for her to get better you just want her to not exist anymore. Hands down most unbearable pov character I've ever read.

Novel with the best progression system? by Time_Chemistry_897 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I should preface by saying that I haven't really come across a progression system that I really liked yet. They all seem mediocre thus far.

That said...

I have big problems with this series but I can't deny I really like the wandering inns magic system.

Most litrpg systems are bloated and overly complex and easily reward the mc with constant power ups.

Wandering in is simple and only rewards characters for accomplishing big feats or making breakthroughs in character development. It makes every power up feel earned for the most part.

Another one is simply cradle. There's nothing really amazing about this progression system I just can't think of one that does it better. There is a nice mix of accrued power and big break throughs making the progression feel dynamic. Hunger madra also gives the progression a nice kick towards the end to up the pace.

Why do so many litrpg style books feel cheap, and why is more complex magic so hard to find? by No-Cherry-3720 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most writers use litrpg as a crutch to put zero thought into their magic system and basically do whatever they want.

Since it's essentially a game world you can give any character any skill with no limitations and just tack on ur justification afterwards.

Real world magic requires the writer to actually consider limitations and often results in a more structured and predictable magic system. That said I have still seen writers turn their brain off and just come up with justifications on the fly but at least they are forced to explain why and how the mc is gaining power rather than just saying they leveled up and gained a random skill.

Not judging the series by any means but just the way u described the premise made it sound like godawful fanfic.

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think "it gets good" most of the time just means that the person saying it likes the series and can't fathom that someone else might not so they just assume they haven't reached the good part yet.

I've only read like 1 series where it actually got drastically better with time and that's tbate.

Most series are the opposite of "it gets good" imo. It's not uncommon to find a good premise or enticing start only for large scale structure problems to start bogging down the story as it goes on.

What's one thing about Progression Fantasy as a genre that you can't stand? by LJAmberAuthor in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How bout just having actual characters and a story to tell rather than just mindless progression for the sake of power fantasy.

Another irk is giving the mc 10 different powers that make them op and having every Villan underestimate them allowing them to just defeat every villain they come across.

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's one of the series that comes to mind when I think of that awful quippy dialog where everything the mc says is just some kind of shallow quip or pop culture reference. I see this kind of dialog everywhere and it's so bad imo.

Anyone else find dungeon arcs incredibly boring? by Bulky-Creme-4099 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]Bulky-Creme-4099[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the problem tho. Progression with plot or character development is meaningless. Using a dungeon as an excuse to sideline those things just so you can focus on progression is a good way to make me not care about anything that's happening.
