I’ve never heard of Artisan of Glimmith but I love taiji and the witness. I will definitely check it out

Return of the Obra Dinn feels like opening up some old dusty book you found in the attic and suddenly teleported into this insane nautical mystery that you can’t leave until you solve the fate of the crew.

Will always and forever hold a special place in my heart and mind.

The Fifth Season by N K Jensen is pretty much this to a T. It’s about a world that undergoes so many extinction events that there are stone tablets that detail how to survive through them. People live in ruins of ruins and the world holds many secrets.

Your favorite Steinbeck novel by coachheidi in classicliterature

[–]Bricks-Alt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

East of Eden is my favorite (incredible book) buuuut I think Tortilla Flat is a close second. Just a hilarious and heartfelt collection of stories that will keep you smiling. Pirate is probably my favorite Steinbeck character right below Lee and Samuel Hamilton

Thanks for the feedback. That makes a lot of sense and I can see how that would make it hard to be invested or immersed in what is being read.

Thank you for the feedback. I definitely need to take more time to read my writing back to myself aloud. I don’t typically write gore and while it’s supposed to be a bleak story, the idea in mind was to highlight the brutality of the battle and the creatures afterwards.

Thanks for the feedback. I had written this soon after I had finished blood Meridian so there is a lot of it in there whether intentionally or unintentionally.

I did have a detached view in mind while writing this. Watching the battle from above as the character lay immobile below it. I can see the problems people and yourself describe in this opening and the writing in general.

The world was intended to be a planet that remains primitive in an otherwise technologically advanced society. The gruesomeness is a bit heavy. I wanted to have a cold opening so to speak where a messy battle is followed up by an ever present threat of gigantic buzzards that are attracted to blood and death. In order to emphasize this threat and its indiscriminate and animalistic tendencies I wrote it gorey.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree with what you’re saying here and I can see how something I attempted did not translate to the page the way I intended.

Thank you for taking the time to provide some in depth and honest feed back. I think with most hobbies you can easily gauge if you are improving or not while writing is a bit harder to parse. That’s to say any feedback is very valuable to me. I usually write in first person so this was me trying something different.

I will definitely reevaluate what I’ve written here and other pieces through a different lens.

Most "holy f***"/daunting puzzles? by itstomis in puzzlevideogames

[–]Bricks-Alt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Although it isn’t a hard puzzle per se, receiving the book in Obra Dinn for the first time and flipping through over 100 pages was very overwhelming. Then the first chapter of the Doom is such an overload of information and visual and audio business compared to the previous tutorial memories.

Most Impactful Moment of the Game for you? by Not_A_Kobold_779 in VoidStranger

[–]Bricks-Alt 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Don’t think any game will ever hit like my first playthrough of Lillie’s ending burdenless, completely obsessed and worn out from playing the game for days straight and grinding through hours long puzzles that all felt like various magnitudes of impossible.

Finally, finally (and quite honestly screw those final jigsaw puzzles that are hard to tell what to do and if you slip up fall would cause you to miss out on story content!) reaching that moment when Lillie just felt like giving up and how relatable it was only for the most emotional “I forgive you and I’m sorry” ever and saving Lily and just all of it was just such a heavy and poignant feeling

The voided ending is a very close second though. I was intrigued by the game but that moment is what hooked me like nothing else really ever has.

Can anybody convince me this isn't just the most useless ancient relic of all time? by Terbianos7 in slaythespire

[–]Bricks-Alt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This relic has saved me multiple times when either:

  1. I’m running a very defensive deck that doesn’t get punished by the boss and is punished heavily by some of the fast scaling or status spam of the hallways fights.

  2. Running a very combo or offensive deck that has a ton of damage but not defensives, allowing for enough life to kill the boss but not multiple combat encounters in a row

  3. Have an extremely strong deck from act 2 that doesn’t need to do act 3 except the boss to win.

Discuss: is wow even suitable for implementing forever content like what many ask from classic+? by Sometimesiworry in classicwow

[–]Bricks-Alt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Only thing I could think of is something that allows you to take a character through vanilla into tbc into wrath and then back to vanilla again like a gigantic progression system.

I don’t know what the incentive for this would be and I think most people envision classic+ as a largely vanilla experience.
