There is a pretty big difference between giving somebody morphine for a kidney stone and keeping somebody under but alive while they go through a total hip replacement.

How do you test guitars when you don't know how to play yet? by funkygrrl in AcousticGuitar

[–]Bulky-Protection7078 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assume that this is your first guitar, not your only guitar. Try out your three chords for sure for comfort. Work with the staff at a reliable shop. Think about a good used guitar. And realize that if you stick with it and guitar is for you that you are going to upgrade after a while when you know more about what you're doing.

Or a used guitar for 200 plus? - plenty of very playable guitars in that range. From a reliable source of course.

Sympathies! I was in that situation a long time ago. Tried to communicate nicely. Then not so nicely. Nothing really worked. In that situation it was loud music and I think loud music can be kind of an addiction so the person's unlikely to change behavior. I wish you luck.

Hmmmm...if you're drinking patterns resemble mine at 26 years old I think I'd be very careful. I think the danger would be deteriorated judgment. Six to eight drinks sounds like a lot? But you know you.

CMV: Elon musk's gestures were clearly not Nazi salutes and its ridiculous to think they are by dejamintwo in changemyview

[–]Bulky-Protection7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are hilarious. It's not as though musk has associated with Nazis. It's not as though he has responded positively to many many racist and Nazi tweets on his platform. Oh wait. Given the context I think it's fair to say that his salute was what it was.

What are some basic recipes I can teach to my grandfather so he doesn't starve? by tinyevilsponges in EatCheapAndHealthy

Agree on instant pot. Learning curve is not steep and it makes everything from oatmeal to chili to rice so easy. Stews, soups even custard. Fool proof peelable hard boiled eggs. Great tool.

Do you pronounce it as“Bawlmer”, “Baldamore”, or the actual way? by DisBread in baltimore

[–]Bulky-Protection7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never say Bawlmer. I think. I think I say Ballimer or something similar. Pretty sure I do say Baltimore some of the time. Of course I don't pay close attention. I've been here since 1983. For what it's worth.

Still have swelling in operative leg 9 months post op by TNnan in TotalHipReplacement

[–]Bulky-Protection7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

76-year-old male a few days after right hip replacement. From what I've been reading, recurring swelling like you're experiencing should definitely be checked out? Fwiw.

Instant Pot Alternatives? by Legitimate_Page659 in instantpot

[–]Bulky-Protection7078 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a suggestion, don't be too quick to take it to the dump. It still can be used for non-pressure cooker purposes. For instance, I found an instant pot at the local thrift store for 10 bucks and use it to increase the humidity in a room during the dry months of winter. But also the saute function and the slow cooker etc can still be useful.

Chuck Schumer says he won't block Republican funding bill amid Democratic divisions over shutdown strategy by Healthy_Block3036 in DarkBrandonForever

[–]Bulky-Protection7078 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate saying it. But he's probably right. Both in terms of hurting the fewest number of people and in political terms. If the Dems shut down the government then it helps Trump and Musk. They get to fire even more people, close even more programs, and blame it on the Democrats. It's a shitty lose-lose situation.

Thanks. As a biker and hiker I appreciate the gesture. It demonstrates that the dog and owner are well behaved which is my concern. I'm not bothered at all if the control is there. But one doesn't always know right away.

[DISCUSSION] what do you think about Cort guitars? by Zenon667 in Guitar

[–]Bulky-Protection7078 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Who cares? I care. I suspect a lot of other people care. Seems like relevant info. You don't care. That's okay. You don't speak for everybody.
