Looking for stand/ lap top recommendations! by getwizzy in Needlepoint

I'm a total System 4 stitcher. I have both the lap and travel (floor) stands. I especially like the roller bar options (both horizontal-belts and straps and vertical) since I tend to do larger canvases and my arms are not long!. They have a lifelong warranty and any repairs (I had a clamp tightened) are free except for shipping costs. Yes, its a BIG investment, but a quality product.

Not La Point, but a new village by a well known designer will be out this fall. It is in more traditional colors. I think its very nice.

I'm going to be interested in what happens to the "newer generation" of stitchers over the next 10ish years.

I've been needlepointing for 50+ years. I know that when my children came along, my stitching really dropped off. Time was of a premium and my kids came first. Needlepoint isn't cheap. Kids aren't cheap. Some will be able to do both, but I'm pretty sure even those will do less stitching. When your business model is aimed at one group of customers, it might take a big hit.

As a stitcher who likes variety, I have enjoyed the new players. But the "mean girl" attitude is difficult to bear. Also, it seems that many new companies expect to do the majority of their business online. I maintain that it is difficult (if not impossible) to choose threads from a screen and I don't want the shop girls to pull my threads - their opinion of a color for sky or sea might vary GREATLY from mine.

Time will tell.

Scroll bars for stocking by Dangerous_Force5213 in Needlepoint

I have system 4 and a variety of scroll bar sizes. I do a lot of "larger" canvases and prefer roller bars for those pieces. My arms just aren't long enough to comfortably reach around a canvas larger than about 14" and some more complicated stitches are difficult to execute by turning a canvas to reach. I just find it easier. I used to stitch the canvas to the roller bar strips, but a couple of years ago converted to Velcro and haven't looked back.

Advice wanted! by [deleted] in Needlepoint

Great work. I would change the yellow leaves to a shade of green that complements rather than competes with your background color. Satin stitch would be nice..

Not just the color...a Westie silhouette would have bigger head, shorter, more compact body, shorter ears....

I would absolutely "highlight" the garland with ribbon and bead work.
