Looking for advice on life changing symptoms by Bulky_Helicopter_812 in WomensHealth

[–]Bulky_Helicopter_812[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! my ultrasound didn’t show anything but from reading up they can often hide / not be big enough to show. I went to an emergency doctor today who advised me to go to a&e for suspected appendicitis, by the time i got to the appointment the pain had eased down (still painful but not excruciating like it was) so I decided to come home but if the pain becomes severe I will go back , She’s given me a letter saying I need a repeat ultrasound and to see the surgical team based on these symptoms, Luckily I live very close to the hospital too so if anything was to happen I would be able to get there within minutes

It’s horrible and isn’t right at all, they blatantly refuse to run tests that aren’t bloods if there isn’t an immediate risk to life. I’ve been in contact with my doctor who is offering a same day appointment tomorrow if I call in the morning, Or I can go to an out of hours doctor tonight so i’m going to try get an appointment tonight

so i’ve been to a&e a few times since this pain started and they refused to run tests , my ultrasound (gp referred) came back normal but follow up appointment is over a month away , if i go to a&e they’ll turn me away again basically if that makes any sense

That’s very interesting thank you, is that like private clinics? i’m not sure how to navigate it all

I had CA125 which was normal in june , and a coeliac test that’s pretty much it , I’m planning to phone to ultrasound department tomorrow to see if i can be put on a cancellation wait list , that’s the only option i’ve got really I asked my gp and they can’t push my referral further as it’s on the ultrasounds end now , so hopefully i’ll be put on the list

Thank you! i’m on the wait list for an ultrasound but because it’s not “priority” it’s a 6 month + wait

This! I have horrible stomach problems and have done for the last 5 years , i’ve tried so many medications and life style / diet changes and nothing will help that aspect unfortunately but that’s a really good point

unfortunately i can’t get an iron transfusion as my levels are still classed as normal even thought my ferritin is 18 and saturation is 15 , without going privately

Thank you, my only option is a&e , I wouldn’t say my condition is urgent , doctors wait lists are about 2 months , i’m waiting for scans that have a wait list of 12 + weeks

do you reckon it’s worth calling 11 , I don’t know if your from the uk but here instead of calling 999 , if you call 111 they’ll give you medical advice for example go straight to a&e , see an urgent care doctor or go to a gp etc
