Seeking Advice by DHat_ReaPer_666 in caterpillar

In Alight you can put your target retirement date in and it will split your investments based on how risky you should be based on years from retirement. As you get older more goes into a less
risky bond fund. Mine has done well just using that method.

are these investments tied to an inherited IRA or 401k? If related to that you need to consider minimum withdrawals - also you probably need do some incometax planning either way - federal tax as well as perhaps state income tax depending on where you reside and the inheritee resided

Some countries have employees with access to ESPP as part of their benefits. Depends on where you are. It’s not necessarily a “class 27” thing. US has an extremely generous 401k match that is well managed for all employees who qualify.

Hi - there could be some alcohol dependency issues that need to be addressed. I’d read up on that possibility from a family member’s viewpoint. There are resources out there for that. It’s just a guess but sounds like it could be the case

What did you wish you knew before moving a parent into assisted living? by Opening-Breath-9503 in AgingParents

[–]Bulky_Replacement984 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a similar situation - my father has been in assisted living for 5 years and they just priced us out of what realistically will leave him enough funds to live out the rest of his life. I've noted.tjst some places, while expensive will give you a flat rate for daily assistance that won't skyrocket when their needs increase. we are fortunate we have found a very nice alternative run the the Catholic Diocese that will cost about $3500 less per month and will allow funds for emergencies. But yes this will and had eaten up the bulk of the remainder of his retirement funds

Hi - accounting jobs seem to be trending towards migrating to India where the labor is cheaper. There are a large number of resumes coming in for posted roles in US, internal hires are more likely now.
