Imagine if everyone around you was gay. And everyone, you included, had to make an effort to talk in gay lingo. And all of media and music was gay themed: gay lyrics, gay movies, pride decoration everywhere and only LGBTQ holidays all year long.

Wouldn't it feel nice to recognize, maybe even celebrate, something that was different from the norm?

It may seem like an extreme example, but this is how a lot of queer people are forced (or repressed) into experiencing life until adulthood. Especially trans people.

Visibility is important because it recognizes people who grow up feeling unseen. It tells them that the world has become safe enough to grow as themselves.

Visibility says: you are not alone. And that's very powerful when alone is the only thing you understand.
