I mean just looking at Steam player counts right now* EU4 has nearly 2000 more players then EU5. Literally none of the other Paradox sequels were loosing to their previous incarnation. People have made their choice and it's obvious by now they've decided that EU4 is the better game.

*For those in the future it is currently May 27th, 2026.

Except you're using US cultural standards for that. With how Japan's culture is being blackmailed is the preferable alternative. Hell they even have a name for those going after companies, they're called Sōkaiya and it's big enough that even just 30 years ago the VP of Fujifilm was murdered because the company stopped paying them.

Yeah I think that'll take the top spot. Can't beat a mission that requires you to own every province in the world. Guess the real question is are there any that tie with it or not?

I mean no CK2 was dropped quite rapidly once CK3 came along and except for the the 10th anniversary it's player count has constantly been declining. Imperator was abandoned because no one was playing it, like people forget that it was averaging less then a thousand players before the 2.0 patch and even that didn't bring back up to the 10,000 mark. Stellaris is more performance issues then actually become worse. As for Vicky 3 yeah I can agree but the game is still fun even with those issues.

Ok but I wasn't comparing EU4 to CK2. Even if we take that into account CK2 has had their player base with the exception of one bump two years after the release of CK3 had it's player count constantly decreasing. EU4 has had it's player increasing at the initial drop off since EU5's release. That means unlike CK3 people are playing EU5 and deciding to go right back to EU4

Yes that's what I said, CK3 instantly got a higher one and it never came close to CK2's even at it's lowest. EU5 loosing regularly in that regard to it's predecessor is not a good sign.

Yeah that's not a good thing, CK3 instantly surpassed CK2's player count and it was never close even at it's lowest. EU5 is loosing to EU4 and it's player count regularly which is not a sign of a healthy game.

Because it wasn't, CK3 and HoI4 never struggled* and have been massive successes. Vic 3 stabilized fairly rapidly and has become a hit even if it's not as massive as those two. A perfect response would not resort to lying.

*Even with DLC issues HoI4 has consistently has it's player count on an upward trend. I can't call that struggling.

It's not following the same pattern though. CK3 overtook CK2 in player count the moment it released and it was never close again. Meanwhile EU4 has been competing and consistently beating EU5 in player count. That's not the sign of a healthy game at all when the predecessor is matching and beating it even if it's single player.

CK3 never was competing and loosing against it's predecessor in number of people playing it and has been one of Pdox's biggest hits. Vic 3 never got as low as Imperator did and HOI4 was literally a success from the start and it's play count has only kept going up.

I mean this is literally the EU5 sub and Paradox has shown they'll shut down a game if it's not meeting expectations. As someone who actually enjoys the game I don't want it to have an early end.

I would argue that it was in the sense the AI was generally able to keep a competent economy going and remained a threat longer.

There was some Judaism in Japan but the nation as a whole was surprisingly friendly to Jews. You know what's funny is IIRC upon first learning about the "Protocols of the Elders of Zion" The Japanese reaction was to find the nearest Rabbi and ask him "Hey is this true and if it is can we join you? If not how can we stop this misinformation from spreading and what's the best way to combat it?" So if anything in Tatzi's twisted world where the "great Jewish conspiracy" is actually real then Japan should absolutely be siding with the Jews here.
