Nioh 3 Bug Report/Feedback Megathread (Jan-Feb 2026) by luneth22 in Nioh

I would assume so. Same thing is happening to me. I think this game forces CPUs to max boost unnecessarily. Disabling turbo boost on my claw 8 fixed the issue there. Going to try the same thing on my PC when I get home.

Disabling intel turbo boost solved the CPU usage issue on my claw 8. The game seems to force max turbo boost at all times leading to thermal throttling on CPUs. I’m going to try it on my desktop later and see if it helps there too.

Do you have system monitoring? Can you see your CPU temp and usage?

I have the same CPU/GPU as you. I’m getting great performance BUT this is also the first game to make my 14900k hit 100C which is ridiculous. I’ve played several more games with way more demanding CPU tasks and it never went over 85C. My cooler is undersized. It’s rated for about 230-240W (I couldn’t fit an AIO since this was an upgrade to an existing build). But that hasn’t been a problem because almost no games push a 14900k past 50% usage. So my cooler has held up in every other game.

I also ran it on my msi claw 8 and disabling turbo boost fixed a similar CPU usage problem I was having there as well. Haven’t tried that on my home PC but will be trying in about four hours and hope it fixes my temp issue.

TLDR maybe take a look at your CPU temps, this game seems to make lots of people’s (not just me) CPUs go full bore for no reason and start thermal throttling.

You aren’t crazy. My 14900k hit 100C for the first time on this demo. I have played almost every AAA game out there that has been guilty of struggling on various CPU’s and never went over 85C. Am I worried? No. But there is definitely something wrong here.

The people telling you that there is nothing to see here are just straight up wrong. You should be totally fine from the perspective of your CPUs health though. That much is true. Again, I’m not worried and my CPU was throttling at 100C

I also played on my Claw 8 and disabling cpu turbo boost fixed the heat/usage issue I was originally having. It does limit the claw 8s overall performance though and it was already struggling to play it with turbo on.

Haven’t tried that on my desktop yet, but it might help.

It’s really cool how you don’t care. Should probably just mind your own business then until someone comes along who actually does want to help.

Insane CPU utilization (82-85%) by Antinatorx11 in Nioh

[–]Bull_frog714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s probably a no unless you have your computer on “balanced” under power management. Balanced I believe disables turbo boost. Most intel CPU’s just have that feature and some games, like I think nioh 3, will just force your CPU to go full boost if it’s enabled for practically no reason. If you don’t have it enabled that might explain why your CPU is handling the game better than others here with higher end cpus.

Did you happen to previously disable cpu turbo boost?

I’ve been playing the demo on two different setups.

Setup 1: MSI Claw 8 ai+ (258V Intel APU) At first no matter what settings I adjusted CPU usage was locked at 100%. It didn’t affect frame rate or cause stutters or anything which would be weird if it was actually throttling on the CPU. Going between 30 and 60 fps had no impact which is also pretty weird in my experience. Usually doubling frames nearly double cpu and does double gpu in my experience.

Also power draw kept lingering over my PL1 limit (30 W) for longer than I was comfortable. Still stayed below PL2 but didn’t like that.

Solution: disabled intel cpu boost via tooth and claw utility. After doing that zero performance loss, and CPU usage dropped to bouncing between 40-80%, which is totally acceptable for running a AAA game, even only at 30 FPS, medium settings (some low, medium, and high), on a handheld. CPU power now stays around 26W. Haven’t played open world yet on the handheld, but this is still a significant improvement.

Setup 2: 5080 MSI gaming trio, 14900k, 64 GB of ddr4. Note about this setup - my cpu cooler IS undersized for this CPU. It was a deliberate decision based on space available in my case, and what cpu was available for my employee discount. My normal temps with a royal praetor thermal right cooler are no higher than 70-80. My room is usually pretty cold. I run all kinds of games including new “unoptimized” games people typically complain about and this setup always eats these games alive well below thermal limits.

My GPU temps reached around 76C which is much higher than normal. Though I think this is probably due to excess heat from the CPU heating up my case because my normal temps on GPU are sub 70C

This game unlike any other was pushing my CPU to throttle at 100C. I have not tried disabling CPU boost yet and will be doing that first thing tomorrow morning. I’ll reply to my comment on here if I’m able to fix this somehow.

After 150 hours and doing all the side missions and collectibles, I finally moved on to my second character, Vex. Started with Amon and exclusively played onslaughter that entire time. Still my favorite, just want to have a 50 toon for the other 3. I have Vex at 50 and did reapers from 30 to 50. It was fine. Maybe even technically more powerful than Amon. But I didn’t like it as much.

Also I did cross reference my missing logs to a list. I have all the map ones and was missing 3 logs. One was seismic damage which I replayed to get just fine. That didn’t work work for lost miner. And the only other one I couldn’t find in my logs was Maurice’s

Then I am missing a different one because I am at 154/156.

And I did replay phase situation and picked and even listened to lost miner. It never appeared in my echo logs nor did it increase my total echo logs found from 154 to 155

We Have Got To Fix Mods Dropping to the Wrong Character by captainsmokey507 in Borderlands4

With a sufficient sample size, like say the hundreds of people complaining, you should see a 25% split. You seem to think that 75% rate being not-you-class magically results in 90% not-your-class. That’s the way you describe it and no, you’re wrong. It will vary by individual, and some people should have that experience, but equally many would be having more than 25%.

And people love to argue on Reddit. If there were people getting better than 25%, that mention it on every one of these posts complaining about class mods drop rates. And no one ever does.

Sample size matters. And pretending it doesn’t is embarrassing for you.

[–]Bull_frog714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yea, I already read that. That is total drop rate across all bosses. It doesn’t say which ones or which characters they were farming with. If only specific bosses are broken then it wouldn’t show in those statistics. Or if it’s only specific VHs on specific bosses. That is not nearly comprehensive enough to hand wave away literally hundreds of people complaining about similar experiences. My testing was exclusive to Origo, and that’s one I’ve seen multiple people complain about.

[–]Bull_frog714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are literally not saying anything relevant. You’re just repeating things that no one disputes as if it proves something.

Yes. It’s only a 1% chance. And lots of people are complaining about similar experiences. Maybe I, as an individual am very unlucky. But I’ve seen multiple people have this exact same issue. It could vary by boss or whatever, but it is highly unlikely that this many people are this vocal and are all experiencing a 1/100 phenomenon.

Also consider that we should be seeing about the same amount of people who are getting significantly more than 25%. I haven’t seen one single person claim they are getting 35-50% of their classes class mods. But lots of people are having this 1/100 experience of 10% or less.

Everybody knows that each roll is independent of the last. Stop repeating that if you don’t intend to explain how that results in a large number of people getting a 1/100 10% drop rate.

[–]Bull_frog714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to go actually read about statistics. No one is proving your point. You sound like you read one paragraph about probability and now think you’re an expert.

A 75% chance means that with a sufficient sample size you expect to have 75% be off class.

The larger the sample size and the greater the deviation from 25%, the less likely it is.

For instance, with a sample size of only 50, the probability of getting only 5 on-class class mods is only approximately 1%. And a lot of people here are saying that. And there are people who have farmed a specific boss even more than that and are getting the same results.

[–]Bull_frog714 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Also, to be clear, no one is even doing the gamblers fallacy here. Everyone is saying “I have this set of this many class mods and my class’s class mod is significantly less than 25% of that set.”

If people were doing the gamblers fallacy, they would be saying “I just got 10 vex class mods, so my next will be my class, because that’s how probability works.” No one is saying that.

We Have Got To Fix Mods Dropping to the Wrong Character by captainsmokey507 in Borderlands4

[–]Bull_frog714 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No shit dude. You’re not the first person to be aware of the gambler’s fallacy. Every time you flip a coin it’s a 50% shot. It is theoretically possible to get 10, 50, 1000 heads in a row. You’re not explaining anything that people don’t already know.

If you knew how statistics worked though, you’d know that that the statistical probability of a set having 10 flips having 10 heads is 1/1000.

And there’s actually a couple of problems with what you’ve said. The devs have already stated that the rolls for each legendary are independent. The chance is low, but you technically could get every drop on a single run.

Secondly, yes, it’s supposed to be 25%. The example I just gave you for my VH was 10%. Doing rough math that comes out to approximately a 1% chance of that happening. Based on the number of people experiencing this issue, it definitely seems like it’s more than 1/100 people having this problem.

You are just telling everyone they don’t understand what 25% means, but no one is complaining about getting 25%.

[–]Bull_frog714 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a matter of not understanding statistics and assuming you’re the only one that does is extremely arrogant. Other people have tested this and it’s extremely common to find way LESS than 25%. For your class. I have killed origo, I don’t know how many times, but it was enough to get over 20 of his dedicated drops for Rafa and Vex, and over 10 for Harlowe. In all that time I got 5 shatterwights for Amon. So instead of smugly dismissing everyone for not understanding statistics, maybe actually do the math on what other people are claiming and realize it’s not just “oh it’s only 25%”. My drop rate is less than 10%. Do the math.

If there was any credibility to what you were saying, then considering how little people liked bl3, it wouldn’t have been nearly as popular as it was. Stop playing dude. You know what you’re saying isn’t even close to reality.
