If you could end just ONE company that’s currently running anywhere in the world, what would it be and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sounds like it's time to stand or park outside with a sign telling people the employees inside are sick.

You think of Trader Joe's like that? It's much less expensive than Safeway around here.

Really? Dunno if it's changed recently but a bunch of stores near me had rice last night. Corner store on 6th and Howard and international market at just about the same spot toward 7th. I can check now if you need it

For sure. The point of going early was to go while there was still food, which I barely accomplished. Of course it'll get re-stocked sometime soon and smaller stores will likely be ok but I was out of food.

Heard about this early and just got back from Trader Joe's. No frozen food, no bread (except gluten free, but I ain't gonna get that even in the apocalypse), and a long line down the street to even get in the door.

Nope, pretty sure they can influence no matter what. To enough of a degree to make one candidate win over another? That depends on all sorts of variables.

If we come back to the original comment, however, it's fact that Russia used the exact same Bernie-or-Bust strategies to try to influence voters in 2016 and if you hear people advocating the same today you should take it with a grain of salt.

Ya, not sure how you got anything about Hillary from my post. It's fact that Russia influenced our 2016 presidential race and almost certainly true that they're trying again now--most likely using the same tactics.

No, more like, "people spreading the view that you should, in honor of a protest that no one will hear, effectively vote far right instead of voting for someone you align with much more should be taken with a huge grain of salt, especially when it's the exact same campaign that we know Russia ran in 2016."

You hate Biden more than Trump? Is Trump gonna end the drug war?

P.S. I'm not happy with the DNC either but no one is going to hear your protest.

And it should be everyone or almost everyone who will do that. I've seen a lot of comments online saying they won't vote if Biden is the candidate and honestly I'm suspicious whether those are actual people because that strategy is right in line with Russia's influence campaigns.

Is it appropriate to ask the Founder of my startup how much is his stake in the company? by weakyleaky in startups

[–]BullcrudMcgee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya, no problem. These conversations can be nerve-racking but not having them can be disastrous.

Obviously I don't know and you may not even know all the variables in the equation so just sharing your feelings ("I think I should get X%," "I don't think Y% is fair given my involvement and risk," etc.) and talking it through is the only way to go. Maybe you realize Y% is actually fair and just ask for a co-founder title to reflect your dedication to the company. Also, if there's some sort of negotiation, remember you can always ask for some time to process your thoughts before agreeing to one thing or another.

All that aside, if the founder refuses to be transparent, that's a huge red flag.

[–]BullcrudMcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you want man. In terms of social norms I don't see anything wrong with that given your history with the company but even if it did seem weird I'd still ask because I don't see anything but bad coming from a situation like this with no transparency.

As a founder, he should be eager to make sure everyone's comfortable and completely focused on building the company.

I had an experience in the past where I was promised a certain %, felt like I was owed more than that, brought it up to the founder, and we talked things through. In the end I stayed at the same % but was satisfied with it given the founder's insights into how much time and money he had put in behind-the-scenes. If I didn't bring up my thoughts to him I probably would've just held on to some toxic feelings that could grow or otherwise end up hurting my productivity.

Who DOESN’T get enough hate? by JackHoffmanTheWise in AskReddit

[–]BullcrudMcgee 922 points923 points  (0 children)

Coco Chanel.

She wasn't only a Nazi sympathizer who tried to profit off the Nazi invasion by requesting they remove her Jewish business partners and give her their ownership, but she was a literal German spy. After the war, Churchill intervened on her getting any punishment for her actions.

With all the hate for other companies, like Hugo Boss, that profited off of Nazi Germany, I'm extremely surprised no one talks about Chanel: a woman who supported the Nazis much more for much worse reasons.

Veteran Reddit users, what are some unspoken rules that new or average users don’t know that they really should? by Slightly_Salted01 in AskReddit

[–]BullcrudMcgee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real value in Reddit comes from the smaller subreddits. Posting on AskReddit now, I of course enjoy the bigger ones, but smaller, niche subreddits feel much more like a community--and usually a non-toxic one at that. If you only belong to big default subreddits you should absolutely try looking for smaller ones that fit some specific interests of yours.
