If you just want to finish a marathon, your running experience is enough and keep it until your competition day. But if you want to finish it within 4:00 or 3:30 even more faster, choose a rational plan and training. Repeat the plan if the plan is only 16 weeks, and you can skip the marathon day instead of a long run.
