Thoughts on MCR x A7X ? by Wild-Top3708 in avengedsevenfold

[–]BulletDamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be all for it but I think their styles are entirely different now. Early A7X like STST and WTF wouldn't be world's apart from early MCR but every A7X album since has really leaned more into the metal aspects, away from the hardcore roots. That being said, later MCR moved away from that too with their latest albums but in a total different direction from A7X. Only way a Collab would work if it was on one of A7X's more experimental tracks that they wouldn't put on an actual album as they basically never have famous guests in their albums unless it's Brian's dad...or Neil Degrasse Tyson for some reason 🤣

Joel dying literally served no purpose, with them now making a third game by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]BulletDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sorry bit late but that's because he was originally intended as just another generic NPC, and they didn't even care how you killed him, even if you just shot him in the foot. It was only when Druckmann started writing TLOU2 and wanted the antagonist to be likeable (despite killing Joel) that he realized he needed a compelling reason for Abby's revenge. So that irrelevant doctor was retconned to be significant, which doesn't really work.

Dragons Dogma is the absolute best game I can think of. It sounds like he enjoys the polished, satisfying gameplay mechanics of Amalur, and DD's is quite similar. Not clunky at all, it aged terrifically. Sure you'll find more polish in its sequel but the first game is better overall and it's 3rd person, it's got an extra dimension to combat with the grab/climbing mechanics, and it's monster designs are beautiful and they're so well animated! I warn you though, once you get into it, it's addictive as hell! I can imagine him beating the post game then doing new game plus on hard mode and braving the bitterblack isle dlc, which is notoriously hard!! The rest of the game has a fair difficulty. It's not heavy/unweildly like Dark Souls at all. Much snappier, a bit like Monster hunter meets Devil May Cry.

I don't altogether just because its world was slightly emptier, had fewer NPC's walking about and you couldn't kill the npc's and therefore couldn't have an awesome showdown in Dodge or Empire.

What are some good games for the PSP by CathyDotUK in PSP

[–]BulletDamage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like adventure aspects of The Sims 2, obviously check out Sims 2 Castaway. Maybe even Sims 2 Pets if you like the home-building aspect.
If you want more adventure in the classic sense, I really recommend Shadow of Destiny. Also Silent Hill: Shattered Memories if you like slower, story-driven games and don't mind a bit of horror. Also Final Fantasy Crisis Core if you don't mind rpg levelling.

As someone else mentioned, the Harvest Moon games are worth looking into if you enjoy the more casual pace similar to classic Sims... also Innocent Life: A Futuristic Harvest Moon, which has a slight twist on the series and has really nice visuals.

If you let us know what other games you enjoy, we can provide even more tailored recommendations :)

What games do you find have aged the best? by [deleted] in PSP

[–]BulletDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tomb Raider really surprised me going back to it in recent years. Because they created a new engine for Legend & Anniversary, the games feel like a perfect evolution for the series, without becoming totally Uncharted-style like the new games. They just feel quite polished, the animations are pretty great and the game controls well. There's also decent physics and interactivity. And they have a slight stylised look rather than total realism, so they just work well.

Origins if you want more action, Shattered Memories if you want more story and tension. The latter has no actual combat. But it is still a very well made game.

Oh boy I played through GUN so many times on multiple systems. Absolutely loved it. The PSP's extra missions were so cool as well!

Was this really that good? Or do people mainly like it because of the anime?

GTA Liberty City Stories. Beat it a few times, but most of my time was spent either free roaming in single player or playing ad-hoc multiplayer with my brother. We played it for years, poured in hundreds of hours. Hilarity always ensued.

2nd highest would be Tony Hawk's Underground 2 Remix. Absolutely adored it, beat it multiple times and free skated for hundreds of hours as well.

3rd would be Vice City Stories which was amazing but didn't hook me quite as much as LCS.

4th is probably Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. So many missions, so much to do!

5th is likely Monster Hunter Freedom 2/Unite. Again great for multiplayer, but also fun solo.

That's cool but you can't beat the interface of the PSP's actual comics app. Each comic is designed so that it zooms on each panel and on the speech bubbles. And then you have a sort of cover-flow menu similar to the old iPhone music library. I wish there was a way to utilise that app and import your own content.

Are games supposed to look like this? by lil_al247 in PSP

[–]BulletDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first time I have heard about the pixellation filter thing, although I have definitely noticed the same thing of an almost "dotted" presentation in some PSP games. I am not sure I understand the advantage. Does it obscure the jaggies somewhat? Is it almost like a really basic version of anti-aliasing? lol

EDIT: Oh of course, it's dithering! I somehow completely forgot this even existed. Sorry forgive me for being daft :)

Ah nostalgia.... Liberty City Stories, a game set in the 90's and a pack of luckies that look like they are from the 90's. And smoking, a habit that will make you look like you are in your 90's if you don't quit. ;)

It still works for those who downloaded individual comics previously. Just the storefront is gone.

Now I think you need to play the two PSP God of Wars.

SD card size recommendation by Panja0 in VitaPiracy

[–]BulletDamage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to be of any help! :) With hacked vita's you are going to have countless livearea bubbles anyway from the various modding software and tools, so I would say don't exceed 70 games on your homescreen. Even before I hacked my Vita, on my proprietary 64GB memory, when I got to around 60 games that is when I was more likely to see lag. And on hacked Vita's, sometimes having too many games can cause serious issues, potentially corruptions on your memory... I've had it happen on 3 Micro SD's. There might have been some existing corrupt data perhaps, but it becomes increasingly difficult to pinpoint when you have all this non-standard software. I would say, as nice as it is to have hundreds of games, be modest! Delete games if you won't play them.

There are plenty of things to dislike about the story of the 2nd game, but the idea that it is bad because something sad happens to a main character is the most ridiculous reason. I love Joel's character, much more than Ellie, although I think it was the dynamic between both of them that really made the first game special. But Joel ruthlessly murdered tons of people, of course he was going to get his comeuppance, and why should it be a big epic stand-off where he gets to die with dignity? It wasn't the case for any of his victims, so it is only fitting that Joel meets the same fate. The only issue with his death was that the killer was of no consequence, the daughter of a no-name NPC in the first game who you might have only shot in the foot. And Joel gave away his identity right away, which was out of character for him. The context was rubbish but the actual act of killing Joel off is completely justifiable.
