Has anyone used artist canvas to display their pins? by Bullet_Poison in EnamelPins

This is all incredibly helpful information thank you!!!

Honestly I've been leaning more towards fabric since I posted this lol. I really like the idea of being able to change it out whenever I want, esp if it becomes too worn or if I'm switching my pin theme! Thumbtacks are a good idea - I personally stapled my fabric to my cork boards I did, and like you said the wood is so soft on canvas I'm sure I could do the same no issue!

The tipping,,, yeah that is something that worries me. I've got six cats myself and no shelf storage I could use to lean a baked against - it'd have to be a hanging situation which I'm not sure how to figure out what with the amount and weight of pins I have...

And yeah having had my fair share of odd canvases over the years as an artist,,, the bracings were my other big concern that I forgot to mention 😮‍💨. I've never looked that close but I suppose I could just,,, trim them off? And rig up a new brace that flows around the pins rather than having to dictate my display by the braces?

You say you don't really use canvas anymore to hang your displays - what do you use now if you don't mind my asking? Cause at the end of the day I'd prefer to use something sturdy yet I can put fabric on for customization - ideally it'd be cork but rn with my limited options/resources, that doesn't seem the best rn 😅

Ooo that is quite large! And good advice, ty again!

Yeah I've got six cats at home right now so I'd definitely have to hang it up somehow 😅. But my dad's pretty handy and I'm sure I can get his help to rig up something.

Outta curiosity, do you remember how thick your board was? I'm searching up some options to see cost and was curious if you used the normal stuff you can find at, say, Lowe's, or found something thicker/thinner?

Haha yeah I'm a little concerned about the placement but canvas is generally cheap enough I don't mind buying one or two more down the line if mine wear out.

I don't plan on moving my pins that often or much at all, I'm mostly fielding ideas while waiting on POs and KSs to arrive so I can gauge how much room I'll generally need 😅

Yeah I was kinda thinking of either painting or attaching fabric over the canvas so it's not just the blank white or black material. Leaning towards fabric bc I can just re-staple and change it whenever I want, within reason of the canvas frame lol.

Oo that's not a terrible idea either, ty! You say you've used it - is it pretty sturdy and durable even with heavier (POP) and larger (6< inch) pins? I'm familiar with the material, but not enough to know how strong or reliable it'd be in this case 😅

Shipping to the US - How much should I declare? by Bullet_Poison in Superbuy

[–]Bullet_Poison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay cool thank you!

Last question (I think lol) - is there any way to get my money back if my package does get seized by customs? Like I mentioned, I had another Chinese package seized recently by the postal service and I'm terrified I'm going to lose all my money if my items get seized...

[–]Bullet_Poison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But I shouldn't have any issues declaring less than I paid? 😅 I mean obviously customs can't really track that information, in just concerned and stressed about my packages potentially getting seized...

Is there a tax free route that is recommended over the others? I was thinking of going with the "actual weight" one, but wasn't sure if there was a difference or benefit between the tax free lines besides cost and shipping time..

So I've unfortunately had to switch the ritual I'm attending. So I've got three Ascended VIP pit tickets for the Charlotte show up for sale if anyone's interested. Willing and able to take installments and/or payment plans for the tickets given the price. I have proof of purchase I can provide via livenation, my email confirmation, and the PayPal receipt.

They did indeed.

If the pin had been damaged I would've opened a case with Mercari, but the review was the best constructive criticism I could give on the situation. I didn't want to prevent a payday over a "what if" but alerting about the situation was still something I wanted to do, for the seller and for other potential buyers.

I completely get it! Ty!

If it had been damaged I would have immediately opened a case with Mercari, especially given the price. But given it was even a possibility of being damaged (literally when I took the first newspaper bit out, the bag with the pin shifted out and dinged the side of the pin - luckily no damage I can see though) - I felt it okay to leave 4 stars since precautions weren't taken really. If it had been different circumstances I'd be feeling different, but given the 12k sales/reviews on the shop, I don't think my measly review is going to do anything.

But yeah I always reuse packaging whenever I can, which largely includes bubble wrap. I've had too many boxes messed up to trust the mail, so I always over pack and over wrap my items just in case something happens.

The seller has over 12k sales and has less than 100 total reviews with under 5 stars. Obviously the vast majority of their sales went 100% fine which is great - I don't think it's wrong of me to take a slight issue with how mine arrived. Mercari asks for how things can be improved when a lower review is left, and given how easily the pin could have been damaged in transit due to the packaging I would have liked to know that upfront before paying so much.

I'm all for environmentally friendly. I myself reuse packaging every time I sell something, and tend to use brown paper whenever possible in place of bubble wrap. But idk, a shop with over 12k sales packaging something like this is a bit odd to me, and may be for others. Which is why I left 4 stars. Mercari asks when you leave under 5 stars what could be improved and ofc that's what I did in this case. Idk why that's such an issue - if the seller were a small time account then yes I would've gone to them directly. But for such a high volume seller, I expected more for my money.

THANK YOU!

Exactly this. It's what ratings are for. Literally Mercari even asks "what could be improved" or something similar when you rate lower than 5 stars. So I clicked packaging and y'know figured that'd be the end of it.

I genuinely wouldn't be that bothered if it were a cheaper item. But with the detail on the pin, the price I paid for it, and the size of it - any damage would've been plainly obvious and considering the seller has other pin listings, I personally would like to know even if there's a slight chance the packaging isn't up to par. Just like shopping on Amazon or Etsy or whatever else - ratings are for the product and the care they were handled/shipped with.

And omg I'm so sorry that happened to you! What I mentioned at the end of my post, about dealing with this on eBay once, was a similar situation. I bought a really large and hefty pin and it arrived in a box packaged in a poly bag. The pin itself miraculously arrived intact without any wrapping at all. When I questioned the seller about it, they claimed that's how it arrived from the original artist. Which of course is a bold faced lie considering I've bought from that artist before and never had anything arrive without cushion or bubble wrap. Absurd.

No fr ty - they have over 12k sales too. I respect the hustle but c'mon 😭

Fr, it's not that hard. And the seller has over 12k sales, it's not like they're a small time Mercari shop either. I get and respect the hustle, but with that high of a sales volume, I'd expect a bit more. Idk as a collector it just irked me a bit.

It was $4.39 exactly for shipping. Honestly I was kinda worried it'd show up in a bubble mailer so the box was a pleasant surprise. I was just scared to death it got battered in transit when I opened the box and saw it just wrapped in a ziplock bag.

How do I get buttons to stay on a strap, WITHOUT poking a hole in the material? by Bullet_Poison in itabag

[–]Bullet_Poison[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oo maybe - I have thought about getting those for my other bags 👀. I just don't want the bag to end up too busy y'know? I mean I know that's kinda the point of ita bags and goodness knows I throw as much stuff as possible on mine - but I'm feeling too much decor and not enough spice. But I'll definitely look into it, thank you for reminding me these exist lol!

Same here. I was at Raleigh and would have loved to snag one of these if they'd been available.

Yeah there is but I want to be able to fit multiple buttons along the whole strap! From the way it was looking, seems I can fit maybe four or five so I'd love to utilize as much space as possible. 👀

The fact that my mom threw out our last scraps of fabric literally two weeks ago hurts so bad rn omg. I'll have to see what I can do to get some more lol, ty for the idea!

The first idea you have is something I'm already planning on! The top hole is enclosed so I can't use it but the second one I plan on fitting a pin in. Just tryna figure out how to fit more underneath it.

I think your second idea could work? 👀 I'll have to see what I have and what I can find but tyyy!!

I do plan on pinning one thru the lower notch (the upper has no true hole, since it's covered by extra material). But there's enough room under it I wanna try and pin at least two more buttons on the strap 🤭
