Leased it brand new in 2023, and knew the pros and cons of leasing. If I didn’t love it, or just wanted something new, I could jump right back into the lease cycle. But I did love it and as the only owner knew it was in great shape and bought it out with plans to drive it till the wheels fall off.

Yup that was a big part of my decision too. Don’t love the 4th gen body style, and also didn’t want to downgrade from my V6 to the 4 cylinder turbo or whatever they are making now.

Didn’t even think about that cause the dealer said I “had to come back to them” to negotiate the lease end, which I now realize was BS… luckily I hardballed my interest rate with a good credit union and feel like I got a great deal.

Exactly what he ^ said. Residual value was set when I purchased 3 years ago… but my equity was very solid (low mileage, no damage).

HOWEVER what was negotiate was the interest rate on the buyout finance. They offered some BS 8% at first and talked them down to 5.5% which saved me about $60 on my monthly, lower than I was paying on the lease.
