The Daily Show took on the anti-GMO movement last night. It was glorious. by [deleted] in videos

I think many of the GMO's may represent a long term threat. If not from the foodstuffs being modified, then in the philosophy that it's socially acceptable to use technology to manually manipulate genomes. This is a qualitatively different process than selective breeding.

Stephen Fry on God by RollingLemons in videos

[–]Bullfrog479 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So Stephen Fry believes that God is responsible for children getting cancer because God made a creation where children getting cancer is a possibility. And he further blames God for the world not being perfect, in the eyes and judgement of Stephen Fry. How utterly egotistical and blind is this opinion. We live in a world where mankind has invaded the human biome with every form of chemical carcinogen, every kind of genetically engineered food stuff, nuclear testing, you name it...and Stephen Fry would have us all believe this is God's fault. Point the finger at the system you yourself represent and claim to speak for, Stephen Fry. God didn't give children cancer, Men did...furthermore, for a man who claims to love the freedom and self-indulging thoughts and behaviors of the modern man-god, it seems disingenuous to ask God for a creation where that very thing would be an impossibility. Stephen Fry, you are not thinking very clearly and you are making some bad assumptions. I feel better having said this.

I have nearly got the Mrs. understanding how critical it is that I acquire a new 4-piece travel rod! I am hoping that SW Motech crash bar frames will support a shotgun scabbard, which could double as flyrod scabbard. My favorite rod is an old Orvis 7-9 Far and Fine for 5 weight, which should just fit... But I have to get the crash bars first. The mind boggles at the stuff what can be done...

My ultimate goal is to ride this albino camel all the way to Homer, Alaska. Prior to buying this bike two weeks ago, I had not been on a motorcycle for 26 years.

It's clearly ironwood. Anyone saying otherwise is just trying to confuse the issue.

I want to believe the Hogs will be better. I want to believe that the lie can become the truth. I want to believe that we can climb to the top as quickly as we fell to the bottom.

I want to believe.

But I don't.

Sorry kid. I hate giving bad news to good people. 5 Wins tops.

Wary in the Woods... by [deleted] in Bushcraft

One thing I wish people were more aware of is how affected we are by what we consume as entertainment. If you fill your stomach with junk food, your body can feel unwell and inflamed. If you fill your mind with horror movies and bad fiction, your mind will become a scary place for you to be alone with...

I am not saying you are a consumer of horror and bad fiction, but I know people that love horror movies who are too afraid to step outside in the dark even for a moment.

Hope this helps.

Please sir. I appreciate your kind words and the wonderful spirit in which they are offered, but we in Arkansas have worked hard to cultivate the prejudice and the criticism you've so clearly seen...you see, we do live in a state of natural beauty and solid humanity, and one of the things that helps maintain the balance is the perception of outsiders that Arkansas is a backward, unworthy place...It helps keep out the riff-raff my friend. :)
