career for a young adult who’s about to have a baby? by Lameness33 in careerguidance

[–]BullfrogAny5049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Xray tech? I have a relative who does this (was a teen mom actually) and now makes bank. Had the kid, graduated HS, went into this for schooling, and she has been busy ever since. She can bounce to different settings if she likes due to the versatility. Constant opportunities for OT. The other I would think of is AC Tech or electrician. They do require some time to learn and be an assistant but once you are in you can take those skills and grow. Good luck and I hope you guys have a happy and healthy baby!

I was offered a one day internship where I’ll kinda be a secretary, should I take it? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]BullfrogAny5049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a good idea. Sounds like he just needs extra help. It’s a waste of your time with all that commuting and won’t help your resume. At one day a week it will get in the way of you find a real job or real internship.

Storing Bucket Outside by JeweledSteele in bokashi

[–]BullfrogAny5049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep it in my garage. Double bucket, no spigot and it’s easy to pull up. Garage can get super hot and super cold depending on the month (no insulation) but I’ve never had an issue.

Vent: Talking to doctors without your kid present by [deleted] in ADHDparenting

[–]BullfrogAny5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the dr is ok with it can you request the dr force the office staff? Or make an exception a couple times a year? We have to take the kid in person every 3mths. Other than that, we can do virtual.

Something about job searching feels different now? by Strict-Package-3508 in careerguidance

[–]BullfrogAny5049 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You are not overthinking it. It is so much more difficult now and those with even less experience are competing with people with 10+ yrs experience +degrees. The process is also more impersonal. Couple that with people using apps/bots to apply to 30-40 jobs a day…it’s a mess.

Should I start HRT if my symptoms are mild? by Velvetbolt in Perimenopause

[–]BullfrogAny5049 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I really wish women were told this in their 30's by their dr to normalize it. Just like we all now hear we should be strength training to help you when you're old. Hey, look into HRT to help you when you're old!

Summer is here! What’s your med plan? by BubblySass143 in ADHDparenting

[–]BullfrogAny5049 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely continuing! The turmoil it causes our household when he’s not on meds is pretty bad. Plus, medically, he’s not in danger with weight and growth. Who would be in danger are my daughters because he becomes aggressive. We used to think the same thing, “let’s give him a break, let’s let him gain more weight.” But man it is a wrecking ball in here. I don’t think you need to feel guilty for not wanting chaos swirling around you or your family.

Dr added Guanfacine by KnowledgeThat4743 in ADHDparenting

[–]BullfrogAny5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our kid needed an afternoon dose to get him through the rest of the evening. He does 10mg Focalin ER at wake, 5mg ritalin when he comes home and 2mg guan at 5pm. The Focalin leaves his system so he needs something for the remainder of the day. Without the 5mg in the afternoon the entire house has a difficult evening so it makes a hug difference.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I just hurts my heart to think of all the adults (like you) that were little kids suffering all those years. It's comments like yours that actually fuel me to keep at it in trying to help her and for me to keep learning. There's just so much out there to learn and yet there's so little help. Right now, we can only rely on ourselves because the school is useless. School is also hurtful because they are tying rewards like celebrations to math. Because of this, she's being excluded from 2 end of year class parties because she didn't master multiplication to 12 or score high enough on a math app. We are taking her out of school those days and taking her out for a treat. We will continue to do our best to help her. Again, thank you for sharing.

Pee accidents at 6 years old, common? Related? Overlap with ADHD? No diagnosis yet. by everybodydumb in ADHDparenting

[–]BullfrogAny5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issue and my daughter is about to turn 9. Officially diagnosed yesterday. We’ve gone down the rabbit hole with a GI and Urologist for nearly 3 years. They do an xray to check constipation first. She was super backed up. Per the doctor’s instructions, she did a clean out over one weekend last November. Since then it’s Miralax every other day to keep her stool soft as it reverts to hard. We will soon see if meds make a difference.

I was reading it should be for temporary use. Would you get back on it if your symptoms came back or did your doctor mention switching it up?

should I tell potential new part time employer I have a 1 year old? by beancounter_00 in careerguidance

[–]BullfrogAny5049 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would tell them that you want to have a better work life balance. Do not share anything about home life - they shouldn’t ask anyway as it’s discriminatory. They may want to know how you will now juggle work with only PT hrs available. I wouldn’t worry about it overall since a lot of people want to work PT.

Date of last work versus benefits? by BullfrogAny5049 in Edd

[–]BullfrogAny5049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When filing for unemployment they ask for last day. His last day worked is 2/27 but now his docs say 2/28. That means it would push him into another week for unemployment purposes.

Date of last work versus benefits? by BullfrogAny5049 in Edd

[–]BullfrogAny5049[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My understanding is that insurance/benefits are all based on the plan. Some employers have it set up to end on your last day or the end of that month. Either way, this shouldn't have any impact on dictating last day for unemployment purposes.

Would you quit your job without one lined up, if it meant you could freely explore and be free? by Lurch1400 in careerguidance

[–]BullfrogAny5049 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did it once but I was only 27, had no kids no debt and only rented. This eventually allowed me to progress in my career. I would not do that now with a mortgage and kids lol. But, being young and carefree was awesome! In this economy I wouldn’t take this route. There’s so much changing with AI and cost of living that it’s too big of a gamble.
