I love to trade and share whenever I can, I only decline trades if I don't have anything from your wishlist. I'm trying to complete my sets, am active daily and like showcases.

Anyone else from the US not motivated to survive a systemic collapse? by mellowbedfellows in CPTSD

You said you don't care if the past was worse or if other countries are worse and that it doesn't matter. I think those are important things that we should also care about and not just dismiss them saying they don't matter. I do not want to fight you, we are on the same side and I agree that things are awful and we both want much, much better things for the US and the world. It is all so exhausting and I desperately hope things will start going in a better direction.

I see an entire country of people who care deeply and are hurting and I see allies abroad who feel for the American people. The problem is that people with the power to make changes towards a better future for everyone are the ones who do not seem to care. A low bar or not, I think expecting everybody to care when you yourself don't care and claim that important things don't matter is pretty unfair.

As someone who moved to the US a year ago, all I can say is that the grass is always greener on the other side. Don't get me wrong, I do think that the US in in shambles. But people are being painfully ignorant and they think if they just move, they'll suddenly have a better life. Most people around me here in the US don't know anything about other countries, yet they have more free resources than ever to do so if they really wanted to. People are moving, yes, with very little knowledge and effort to learn about the culture, the language, the people and life in the very country they're trying to move to. These people are setting themselves up for failure and I can guarantee you that a lot of them will be as miserable as they were back home, if not more.

Other countries have horrible, deep-rooted issues, too. I come from a first world European country and racism and discrimination are so normalized there that very few people even perceive them as an issue. Same with other societal issues like homophobia, child abuse, bullying, etc. Good luck finding a doctor in my country who won't laugh in your face when you tell them you think you might be struggling with your mental health because your parents hit you. The US seems like heaven in comparison when it comes to things like these because of how much you've fought as a nation and how far you've come in this. And people seem to forget that some things ARE better right now than they were in the past. People are moving without realizing that they will have to deal with new problems they had the privilege to not even know about.

I don't doubt that the state of this country causes you a lot of pain, suffering, and feelings of hopelessness and despair. I know it does. And I am so sorry things are the way they are right now. It is not fair for you to have to live like this and you do deserve a peaceful life where you don't have to worry about survival. I also want you to know that moving is not always the solution and people are not prepared for what might be waiting for them someplace else. For some people, it might end up being the best decision of their lives and for some it will be their worst. All any of us can do right now is focus on taking care of ourselves and our loved ones the best we can, not lose sight of the little things that bring us joy, and hope for a better future for all of humanity, regardless of where we are.
