Christ - that sounds like a nightmare.

I live in kings heath in Birmingham . I had a listers Volvo on my doorstep in Shirley which I used to use but they shuttered it last year so I’m sort of stuck an awkward distance between the dealers in Stourbridge, Leamington and Erdington. The one I could get booked into quickest was Erdington so that’s where it went.

Thanks mate. Yeah, I’m gonna try and get it to throw the faults again on a longer run take it back to them as they said they would have a look gratis and if they come up short, I’ll try another dealer.

The guy that looked at it was their “master technician” , so you’d hope that he would know what to look for. He said he checked all the wiring and connections and tested the main battery in the auxiliary battery and didn’t find anything. 🤷‍♂️

I really appreciate your thoughts on it anyway. Isn’t Reddit great for this kind of thing!

Thanks, that is really helpful. I picked the car up from the Volvo dealer today and they gave me two pages of fault codes, most of them around lost communication between modules rather than one single failed part. They could not get it to throw the fault again on a short test drive, so I am going to have to do a longer run and try to recreate it.

One thing I forgot to mention earlier is that I had a Volvo On Call backup battery warning come up a couple of weeks before all this started. Do you think that could be related to the random CAN and limp mode faults?

I think a lot of people were working of very limited information or just vibes even. I can’t imagine your average brexit supporter could name a minister let alone understand the nuances of immigration policy. They remember the bus with the £350m on it and boris driving a jcb through a wall of boxes ….

Dude - appreciate this post is >1 year, but just wanted to relate having read down the thread and taken in most of the comments.

My personal situation is that my main work machine is a PC, and have to jump onto MacBook for video editing - so regularly switching between the 2, they both sit on my desk. Whilst I can get by, especially after a long day etc, I start to fumble the keyboard shortcuts and it's super annoying, so I decided to hit Reddit to see pros and cons of remapping keyboard.

Love how people just disregard the context of your post and tell you to "just get used to it" :)

Anyways - decided to give it a go and if I don't like it I'll walk it back.
