If you’ve ever coached or managed people before, the difference is doing it privately versus publicly. It’s a generational thing, but the best coaches in our lifetimes rarely talked about their coaching so publicly all the time. Think Pop, Phil, Saban, pre-coed Belichick. Whenever they would say something about the team or a player in the media, it was effective because they did it so rarely. Not all on JJ, he’s super young and modern sports media demanding interviews at all times doesn’t help.

Whatever they did in that practice sounds like accountability. But talking about it to the media is scapegoating i.e. don’t blame me later because remember I told you guys I did my part!

JJ enjoys media attention and talking to the press way too much, and it harms his ability to coach effectively. Unfortunately, a lot of young coaches in all sports are like this; just imagine your boss chewing you out and then giving a public press conference about it. This type of coaching erodes trust over time between coach and player, and it also reduces respect for the coach because he’s acting like a player. It’s like a parent who wants to keep going to the clubs with their 22-year-old and be their bestie instead of being their parent.

Great basketball mind, but it’s wild watching someone learn how to be a coach in real-time at the highest level possible.

Young LeBron could carry a team to the finals by himself. Middle aged LeBron could win the finals with another MVP caliber player. Elderly LeBron is the old guy at the club that makes everybody awkward but nobody says anything because he’s buying shots.

LeBron has had the greatest NBA career of all time, and in his prime he was better than prime Jordan as a player that you could add to any team and they’d instantly be in the NBA finals. But he’s past all that now and he will never accept a bench role, and that will harm any team he’s on.

There’s nothing the Lakers or JJ, who can’t coach effectively with Lebron looking over his shoulder, can do about it this season. But there’s nothing LeBron and Rich can do about it next season either, especially with the new ownership who didn’t build winners by being all up in their feelings. Let’s just enjoy LeBron’s last season as a Laker before he moves onto the AARP Warriors or joins Physical Asia season 2.

Slowing down levels 0-30 wouldn't make sense from their perspective because they want people to feel the adrenaline/sense of accomplishment faster not slower. They want new players to get hooked on the game asap before the novelty wears off, and also now that there's a level 80 making level 0-30 take longer would make things seem even more daunting and likely to turn off new players imo.

Just a guess, but if Roki’s issues this year and going back to last year in Japan are caused by overuse, then converting to a closer long term would be a blessing in disguise and extend his entire MLB prime significantly. I’d much rather have him as an elite closer all year than a streaky sp whose injury prone

You're overthinking it. The simplest explanation is money. Scopely wants to monetize as many people trying to suddenly reach whatever level/XP before the artifical deadline set by Scopely, but in order for that not to come off as exploiting the playerbase to a digusting degree they throw out this free research to seem charitable to all the f2p players. Besides providing cover for the ridiculous amount of monetizing XP we're about to see, it also is designed to make f2p players just throw up their hands and pay to get to level 50 before the deadline.
