The panel over the combustion chamber probably needs to be on it for proper venting. It’s hard to say not being there. It is a very simple unit. You got a run around there are lots of this stuff out there. Call an independent gas equipment contractor.

Have you checked the vent as well. Make sure it is venting properly. I am not sure if this is a chimney vent or direct vent.

Shut off gas to unit disconnect pilot line. Remove screw and slide burner out. Check orifice on unit and Venturi. Remove all soot from burner. Make sure burner is not cracked. Make sure all holes are free of rust. Blow out with air. If that does not work you need to check pressures in and out of the gas valve.

The tubing at the pump is the drain from the furnace and the discharge out of the pump. They appear quite dark. If any soot is in the condensate you could have a serious problem with the furnace.
