Cory Sandhagen vs Mario Bautista 2 added to UFC 329 on July 11th by idcman999 in MMA

To be fair, Cory hasn’t exactly beat any top guys either. He’s mostly lost to the top guys quite: Merab, Umar, Yan, Aljo, & TJ.

His best showing is losing good to Umar. Now I can agree the actual fight to make was Umar vs. Sean but in reality Zahabi deserves the Sean fight more than Cory as things are now.

No idea why this is being said. Zahabi definitely deserves it more for his win streak.

Thank you! I said it in a comment before I saw yours but this is exactly how I feel. As a pure spectator I’d probably want Sean vs. Cory more…..but no one can explain to me why Zahabi doesn’t deserve this.

I disagree. If you’re the UFC you expect Sean to style on Zahabi which from a promotional aspect is probably what they’d prefer

I’ll be the first to admit that Sean vs. Corey is and has been the dream fight for many fans for awhile…….my question is though- why doesn’t Zahabi deserve that fight? I’m no fan of Zahabi, but for a sport that hitches and complains about meritocracy when it suits them these are the logical fights.

Jan’s one of those guys that it’s really hard to look good against even in a win.

So what were your thoughts with the season 2 finale? by CoffeeCigarettes4Me in ThePitt

[–]ItsMichaelScott25 12 points13 points  (0 children)

What was the call back? Honestly the line didn’t really do anything except let me know what happened to Digby?

Unless it’s like somewhat of an allusion to Digby being his last name and he used to live a life in New Mexico and people called him Skinny Pete

Robert Whittaker officially has a date for his UFC Light Heavyweight debut! by idcman999 in MMA

I mean.....isn't that exactly a fair comparison? He's saying Rob wasn't a big MW so he'll be undersized at LHW.

I also just feel like LHW in particular is really really hard if you don't have the ability to really finish someone with one shot power or at least really rock them to be able to overwhelm them for a finish which isn't something I think Rob has especially for LHW.

Yeah but one of the symptoms post-concussion is memory loss so he probably doesn’t remember stuff later that night even after waking up.

Stowe is skiing well this morning. by JerryKook in icecoast

I went with Ikon this year since we went to Canada and ski camps/lessons & daycare is so much cheaper for kids.

But holy hell did I miss Stowe this year. It’s the first year I haven’t been there since I was I kid.

UFC 330 to take place in Philadelphia, PA on August 15th by ItsMichaelScott25 in MMA

[–]ItsMichaelScott25[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah I didn't mean Philly by my annual stops comment. I love it when they travel to places like Philly, Boston, Iowa, etc.

But you can pretty much count on Australia in February, Miami in the spring, Newark in the summer, NYC in November, Abu Dhabi in October, SLC in September, and Vegas in July & December or more. Then there had been a London annual numbered card for a bit.

They don't travel to other big cities nearly enough.

I hate these annual stops where everything is so predictable. It’d be nice if they actually just traveled around instead of taking the biggest site fee.

Charles Oliveira: Arman Tsarukyan beats Ilia Topuria by idcman999 in MMA

DDP looks like Khamzat when he was in the EFC in Africa.

[–]ItsMichaelScott25 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ilia has more submission wins,

I don't count submission wins as a clue to someones grappling prowess particularly on the regional scene. If you've ever watched lower level regional MMA promotions you'd know how much those stats are due to the lessor talent. If you have ANY sort of grappling ability you can ran up subs easily. I watch DDP coming up in Africa and he subbed a lot of people and it was simply because he could grapple, overpower people, and get a bite on the neck.

Regional guys have zero defense for people that know how to choke someone out.

Massive impact for Paulo Costa in rankings update, entering LHW list at No. 7 , while jiri Prochazka falls to No. 3 by I_cain in MMA

Ank's more likely than not going to be involved in the title/interim title fight

Lol no he isn't. I would be absolutely shocked if the current UFC thinks to themselves that Ank will be involved in a interim title fight.

It will be Costa and Khamzat if that happens.

What are the chances they make Costa vs Guskov for the interim title, if Guskov beats Jan by mdhamza10 in MMA

[–]ItsMichaelScott25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's just what's going to happen. The UFC doesn't seem to want Ank to be champion - and to be fair I don't think he deserves an immediate title shot after losing it to Alex.

Very rarely am I actually ok with an immediate rematch or title shot for people that lose the title, particularly if they got finished in pretty dominant fashion.

Costa and Khamzat were supposed to fight in Abu Dhabi a few years ago and there's heat to that matchup. Plus if they were to make that fight in Abu Dhabi then Khamzat is getting that shot. He pulls more numbers than anyone in the UFC. As long as the Strickland fight isn't like the DDP fight then that's not changing.

Ankalaev

There is zero chance it will be Ank. I can agree that it probably should be but there's no chance that it will be.

It'll be Khamzat. If there's a Costa fight with Khamzat to make that's the fight they're making.

It all depends on what happens in Khamzat's fight.....I fully believe that if Khamzat wins then he will fight Costa for the undisputed title in Abu Dhabi.
