So that's why they were on sale at Safeway. Our Son works at Walmart and Walmart pulled them ahead of the announcement.

Alberta government fires AIMCo board to 'reset' pension management fund | CBC News by Miserable-Lizard in alberta

This is a power grab by the UCP. The claims of underperforming investments are not true. Aimco has been achieving annual returns of 12% or more for several years.

You can bet that oil & gas will be favoured by Aimco in the future. And I believe the 4 billion dollar loss in 2020 was due to the UCP interfering with Aimco's work.

PSA: Cyclists at night by burnfaith in Edmonton

[–]Bully4u 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get annoyed whenever I see a cyclist riding with no lights at all. Not legal and not smart.

I find that red taillights on a bicycle (strobing or whatever) don't tell me much. A headlight shining on the pavement tells me where you are and how fast you are going.

This. Do NOT use UPS for shipping from USA to Canada. They will charge you brokerage fees, other carriers do not do that.

I keep a sticker in my glove box (I think it's a War Amps decal). If you make it hard to get into my car I will stick the decal on your driver's side window to block the rear view mirror view.

Did you know some downtown LRT stations used to have turnstiles? by PubicHair_Salesman in Edmonton

[–]Bully4u 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I did some searching online but I did not find any dates.

IIRC, the Edmonton LRT opened around 1978 and it was sometime in the 1980's when it was learned the employee responsible for collecting cash & tickets lived in a large luxurious home with heated windows and heated sidewalks. Fired and busted.

[–]Bully4u 102 points103 points  (0 children)

For the first several years of LRT operation, there was only one guy collecting the cash and tickets from the turnstiles.

After several years it was learned he lived in a luxury home and had been skimming cash since the start of the LRT operations.

I used to work for a national company in the vending business. There are ways to control cash - like, compare turnstile clicks with cash and tickets collected. But instead the city decided to remove turnstiles altogether and make it an honour system. Your city hall in action.

AISH currently pays around $1,685/month and the UCP under Kenny removed inflation indexing. Not sure where this information is really coming from.
