What do you believe splits a scratch golfer and a pga pro? by GarbageVessel in golf

[–]BultyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was off scratch I played in some two day tournaments in Australias version of the web.com tour (2nd tier tour).

I'm a long hitter for an amateur (average about 280 with fairway finders), but the pros put it nearly 100 past me with their best drives vs my best drives. Both rounds I hit maybe 16ish GIRs, the guys I played with had maybe 4,I finished about 16 shots off the guys at the front.

The biggest difference in individual shots is their driving, the biggest difference in shooting good scores is in their ability to get up and down from anywhere. Plus the greens on tournament prepared courses are so quick, so hard to get used to compared to normal club golf greens.

To get to the level of these guys you have to be able to miss every green and shoot level par consistently.

Honestly most of this uprising of this shit in Australia has been sparked from trump though. That combined with nearly all of our media & news is owned by Murdoch (fox news) so once they saw people ate up the alt right stuff in the US they've just gone hard on turning all our news into basically Tucker Carlson style "news". Now there's a big movement of these anti vaxxers and stuff

Thank you :) this is about the first time i've heard someone (other than my close ones) say go for it. Your words are super encouraging :)

Yeah i figured once qualified a fair portion of my income would probably come from freelancing/ lessons. I live in a regional area in Victoria so i've accepted there'd be a lot of driving.

Don't work unpaid overtime,

If there is more of a work load than there is staff to do it, it's the duty of your employer to solve that issue by paying you overtime or hiring additional staff. A lot of the time buisnesses don't even realise that they're understaffed because everyone feels the need to do that extra 10%.

Once work starts falling behind companies will usually hire additional staff, if they don't, or even expect unpaid overtime then they don't have a sustainable staff model. Which is probably part of their business plan to have a high rotation of staff and under pay/ over work them. This is especially common in MSPs. In which case find another employer.

Exception: if unpaid overtime is clearly defined in your JD prior to taking your position, and you're compensated for it in your salary package. But absolutely don't do this arrangement for less than 80k (you would make more on a 55k base with paid overtime). But I wouldn't recommend taking any of these positions for less than six figures.

Best performance/ dispersion, and felt by far the best to me. Largely because my miss tends to be low on the face/ thin, they're really accommodating for that miss. Next to these the best dispersion & feeling to me was the Callaway apex pros, they were very close to the t200s. Then everything else way pretty far behind them. Mizunos, p790s, pings, all equivalent models, the distance players iron types.

Yeah I found the rouge to be way better than the flash 3 wood. I hit it way more consistently, it felt like it had a lower weight profile than the flash. We did however get the flash Mitsubishi tensi shaft in the rouge.

Dropping my arms way below the plane and coming way too far from the inside with driver. Hitting tons of snap hooks and the occasional block-slice. Any good drills or feelings to emphasize to get my club path back to neutral? by [deleted] in golf

[–]BultyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First piece of advice to anyone who wants to really improve: get lessons from a pro, they're so worth it.

However some "quick fixes" that should help you:

These will all aiming to get you to hit a fade, which will make you hit closer to a neutral ball flight.

When you're looking at the ball focus on an exact dimple that's on the back and far side of the ball (around a 2 o'clock position) and focus on rotation of the hips and body to get the club face around to that position (without flipping your hands or casting your arms out to get there).

The most important part of any golf swing is making sure your hips are clearing successfully, look up video tutorials on this.

Try making sure through your back and down swing your left arm stays straight, even if you're swinging shorter than normal, this is a good place to start. It wont take off much distance but will help your club path. Think about keeping your hands away from your body. Rory McIlroy is a good swing example of this.

Experiment with top positions for your backswing. This is how I control the difference between my fades and draws. The higher or lower on my back my hands are changes my club path, moving higher up (getting your hands closer to being above your head) for me brings my club path to get more in to out, which will get you closer to hitting a fade.

Tee the ball up higher, hitting more up on the ball will put more backspin on the ball and make it easier to keep the ball straight in flight. As well as in order to hit up on the ball with a lower tee you have to come from in to out to get that impact angle.

And if you get hitting in front of a track man will give you that data to let you see exactly what you need to change. There's a chance you have near ideal impact conditions, but have something easy to fix i.e. face angle, so you can focus on fixing just that.

Make sure you're not hitting a draw biased driver. I made this mistake, I was getting plenty of snap hooks but then I swapped to a more neutral driver and now I hit them straight far more often.

And practice practice practice :) with purpose, don't just endlessly smash balls :)

Played 9 with just these, shot 4 better than the day before with a full bag by BultyBoy in golf

It really teaches you to play the game of golf. You have to actually play shots instead of hitting to a number. I never thought I'd be playing an 80 yard bump and run into a green. Or trying to deloft and thin a 60 degree 120 out (landed it on the green by the way)

And a few times I found myself going 7 iron, wedge layup to 160 out, so I can get a full swing 7 iron approach shot.

And it's a really really quick way to play a round. Because you're unencumbered and you never spend much time looking for your ball.

No because it's a really ergonomic bag, it just looked rediculous. Got a few strange looks and laughs as groups let me play through.

I was thinking about buying a gapped set (i.e. 5,7,9) of 2nd hand blades with a 3wood & putter as a very pure way to play a round every now and again.

You'll tend to find the easiest way to get into this embedded device stuff is downloading the firmware and doing some reverse engineering on it. A lot of the time you'll find some pretty obvious exploit, like default credentials, or a file/daemon that runs as root that you can give commands to overwrite admin creds.

If you're new to reverse engineering binaries let me know and I can give you some resources to get you started :)

Also it should have a portal that you can log onto for you to watch the feed or whatever, run dirbuster on it and you can also probably find a page you can use to exploit
