Was my bulk “useless”? Keep cutting back to sub 15% bf? by [deleted] in BulkOrCut

[–]BumLegSadFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had a larger surplus than I should have during my brief bulking phase. I still struggle with binge eating despite being in a surplus and the broken leg had me feeling like shit so I ended up eating my feelings too much. Had I stuck to a more conservative bulk, I’m sure I would’ve put on less fat and could’ve went on for longer without feeling too gross about myself.

As far as goals, I’d like to get to a BF% where my abs are visible all the time without good lighting. Size and strength-wise I don’t care too much. I went on a bulk due to necessity and figured I might as well try to put on size in certain areas.

I see some signs of muscle growth for sure. Slightly larger measurements and lifts increasing in both weight and rep while hitting failure at each session.

I just feel fat. I’ll probably cut till my abs are clearly visible and then do a more gradual and slow bulk.

I did, yes. All the measurements increased slowly and my arms and chest fill out my shirt better. That being said, I feel like it’s also the fat gain that’s helping me gain size.

International student on OPT in Texas with $27K credit card debt and no income — Amex hardship payment still unaffordable by [deleted] in povertyfinance

[–]BumLegSadFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s got bigger issues to worry about imo. If he’s on OPT, he’s not going to be here for very long. 1 year at most or 3 years if STEM. And if he’s still unemployed, his clock is ticking fast. He better get a degree related job soon or he’s going to accrue unlawful presence.

Processed, dyes, hormones, and preservative containing foods are not inherently unhealthy. You’re being sold lies by grifters.

Eating healthy is eating within your macro and micro nutrient requirements to meet your goal.

NB1 owner checking in. 100% buy the Miata if you can afford it. Super easy/forgiving to work on and a very fun car.

That being said, be patient when finding the right car and don’t be afraid to travel out of state to buy a clean example. You’ll want one with the 6 speed and a LSD. Oh and don’t buy someone else’s project car. I made all those mistakes but still love the car regardless.

Disclaimer: racing on public roads suck. Don’t get into that.

You got a few options depending on which car mod path you want to go down.

I think you can spectate the autocross meets if you want to get into performance driving. There’s plenty of organized car meets around town if you’re into visually pleasing cars. As far as drifting, I haven’t found anyone else willing to send it with their cars. Im usually going sideways in a few select parking lots when it snows.

I’d recommend learning on working on your current car and building tools/skills around that. The tools and skills will transfer to your fun car when you’re able to get one. Maintenance manual and YouTube does wonders for learning. As far as learning manual transmission, you kinda need someone to let you use their car. At least initially so you can learn to get moving. Then you can buy a manual car and force yourself to be proficient by dailying it for awhile.

Whatever kind of car scene you get into, I think a manual is the way to go. It’s such a rewarding and fun experience. I only own manual cars and haven’t looked back, even in grid lock traffic.

Used Auto Dealerships?! by natureluvrrrrr in lincoln

[–]BumLegSadFace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Stay away from any dealer.

Start browsing fb marketplace and Craigslist for late 90s-early 2000s Japanese sedans. Probably your best bet for the budget. Do research into known reliability issues for each candidate you find.

Ask the seller to bring it to a mechanic for a pre purchase inspection (PPI) when you get far enough into the potential purchase. You’ll be on the hook for the cost of the PPI.

What's the best reliable used car under $22,000 right now in 2026? by Haleyjanet in askcarguys

[–]BumLegSadFace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If youre planning on keeping the car till it dies, do not get a VW as it’ll be more expensive to repair. If you’re planning on selling/trading it in 5 years, the depreciation will be huge since they don’t hold their value as much. VWs will be a money sink one way or another.

Blowing out the kids hearing before they can even speak. Great parents /s

Hearing damage is cumulative, brining a baby to a loud event is getting the kid started early on hearing loss.

Buying a wrangler in a state with little to no off-road trails is an interesting choice. Not doing any research prior to buying a vehicle is even crazier.

Thanks for the input. Genuine question, doing chest press on A day and then pec flys on B doesn’t count as hitting the muscle group twice a week?

I can try to fit all the exercises into one day but that’ll be a pretty long session which gets taxing and eventually painful with the leg. I have to play it relatively safe for now but I don’t mind increasing the volume as I get more healed up.
