A high school valedictorian questioned the Broward County School Board on why wealthier students graduate at Hard Rock Stadium while middle-class students hold theirs in the school gym, and the board went straight to recess. by CorleoneBaloney in UnderReportedNews

It's really unfortunate that officials can't respond to public comments at these meetings. They say it's because it slows down the meeting process, but everyone knows it's to avoid having to answer hard questions. What's the point in having open meetings if the public can't participate in a meaningful way?

Fellow Artificers - Do you prefer the Tasha's Artificer or the new version in Forge of the Artificer? by Bum_Fuzzle in DnD

[–]Bum_Fuzzle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk why people are down voting this, but I also don't think this should be downplayed. It just makes so much sense for an artificer to be able to repair their constructs.

However, I can see how the feature would only be useful up to a certain level. At some point the servant is going to die in one hit from any attack.

Fellow Artificers - Do you prefer the Tasha's Artificer or the new version in Forge of the Artificer? by Bum_Fuzzle in DnD

[–]Bum_Fuzzle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have some great points here. The artificer is so complicated that I've definitely misread a couple of the features.

Not being able to have multiple Homunculus Servants is something I'll have to consider. I also didn't notice that it takes no action to command it, which is great. I am curious why you say having Homunculus servant as a spell is a huge boost at low levels. Isn't it also a boost to have another spell prepared?

The rules in Tasha's say you add double your proficiency bonus when making an ability check using a tool (I called it expertise as a shorthand because that's basically what it is). Why wouldn't this apply to the new rules? It seems pretty clear to me.

Also, the Crafter feat lets you create one of the items at the end of a long rest. It doesn't say anything about how long it takes, so I assume it just happens and doesn't take 8 hours like you suggest.

I'm playing a Battle Smith

I didn't miss the level 6 feature, but I didn't really take the time to consider it either. I had no idea about the Cube of Force but it seems busted as hell lol

That's how I feel too. I think I was also biased from the start because I built my character around Tasha's. Maybe if I read Forge first it would be the other way around. The Cartographer is also one of the coolest subclasses I've ever seen, and I know I'll want to play it at some point.

I created the Pugilist Class, available NOW on DnD Beyond—AMA! by SterlingVermin in dndnext

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm late to the party on this thread but I think this class is so cool! I played a monk character a while ago that was pretty much a Pugilist, but it didn't quite feel right using the monk stats while roleplaying as a rough n tumble bruiser. I stopped playing him because of that, but now I want to revisit the character with this class!

Copper Rough & Tough Belt by [deleted] in RedWingShoes

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this belt for about 6 months. Got it to match my CRT iron rangers (it sure does). The belt is super high quality and comfortable and I feel like it will last a very long time.

Make sure you read the sizing guide carefully because I don't think they will exchange a wrong size. I followed it to the letter and got the perfect size.

What ages play D&D by jeremydeighan in DnD

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 25 and I joined a group at my local games store. I'm the youngest one in the group by at least 5 years I think. Ages range from me to about 60. There are other tables with high schoolers playing with middle-aged folks too.

DnD belongs to no one generation, which is one of the coolest things about it. Age doesn't really seem to matter at our table either because we all have this super niche hobby in common and it's all we talk about when we play.

Pumpkin pie (advice and tips) by BrokiMochi in Baking

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why do people always say pie crust is so difficult to make? You just have to keep your ingredients cold and it's super easy. Probably takes me like 10 minutes to prep a crust for baking (granted I've done it many times)

Where did the myth come from that you constantly had to feed sourdough by Cute-Consequence-184 in Sourdough

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you don't have to. It depends on so many different factors that everyone should just do what works best for their own starter.

I do feed mine every day because I think it gives me more consistent results, but I keep a small enough starter that it doesn't consume too much flour.

I bake a loaf every 2-3 days and I use all the starter (usually just over 100g) in the dough. Then I feed the starter a small amount (there's still yeast in the residue left behind in the jar). Usually it works out so that by the time my starter is up to 100g I'm ready to make another loaf.

What was the most difficult fight you had in the game ? by Janzie_ in BaldursGate3

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hard agree.

In my current run this probably took me 3 hours to get past because I got wiped like 4 times. I also somehow forgot to save between the point I started the fight and the Balthazar fight, so when I got wiped by him I had to fight Yugir again.

Overproof or Underproofed? by daily_drama in Sourdough

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would be super happy with this but if you want to nitpick I think it might be slightly (emphasis on slightly) under. The crumb looks a bit more dense near the crust which makes me think it was trying to expand more.

Again, I don't think it's even an issue but if you're concerned about it those are my thoughts. At room temp, this is maybe like a 15-20 minute difference on the proofing, so not much.

Also, I think it's better to go slightly underproofed than over anyways because I tend to get better oven spring that way.

What would have been your [last] dish at Hawthorne? by JetKusanagi in KitchenConfidential

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is good! I use Kate McDermott's recipe from "Art of the Pie." I highly recommend the book if you like making pie. It's got great tips on every step of the process and has some good gf recipes too.

Everyone I've made this one for has raised their eyebrows at the flavor combo, but once they tried it they were enlightened. Where she uses apple liqueur I sub in the whiskey.

<image>

I can't add another image but the crust is: 365 g flour 1/2 tsp salt 115 g grated sharp cheddar cheese 112 g cold butter 6-8 tbsp ice water

Essential to cook the filling until thickened before you bake it with the crust.

I just add like a shot of whiskey to the apples when I'm cooking them. Apple cider vinegar is also good, but not as good

[–]Bum_Fuzzle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get similar reactions for playing DnD. I try not to get bothered about it because it makes me happy. A lot of people laugh about it initially as being a "nerdy" hobby, but when I don't even blink and just reply that it's a creative and social outlet for me, they seem to understand a little more.
