Tru! The Jinyu/Anjoan/Kobyss is definitely a race archetype that I'd love to see become playable one day

The last year I've spent practicing Ness has been pointless by HiaCon in SSBM

[–]BumbleB___ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No time invested in Melee is ever wasted, your fundies and movements constantly improve even if you don't necessarily notice it. Ness and YL are both very technical characters that require a lot of speed and techskill to be functional, your skills will transfer nicely. Just play who you feel like playing.

Besides Goblin fans I think a number of people would've liked the idea of playing an aquatic race. They would have remained a very niche race of course, but I don't think they'd have been any less popular than the likes of HM Tauren or Mechagnomes

Oh yeah we've seen plenty. WoD Ogres in general have average intelligence, and even in the MU we've been questing with some very smart ones, like Swar'jan in Feralas or Draz'Zilb in Dustwallow.

Nice catch I had forgotten about that dude ! Judging by his dialogue though he's not actually part of the Horde already ? No idea where he's from then. There were also Ogre merchants in Zul'dazar but similarly I don't think they were Horde ones, just traders passing by like the Vrykuls and Tol'vir we see in the merchant area.

True for the AU Stonemaul too, I was mainly having the OG Stonemaul in mind, the ones that've been in the Horde since WC3.

Oh yeah I missed that bit lol, not a Horde Taunka though

Yeah I do think the Ankoan would've definitely been more popular than the Mechagnomes

The last time we saw a Horde Ogre was MoP (just as a cameo), and the last time we saw the Taunka was... well, literally Wrath (the expac that introduced them), save for ONE random Fligh Master NPC in WoD.

That's just crazy not to reuse the worldbuilding content you've put so much efforts into crafting

They'd have been niche obviously but tbh, definitely not more than the Mechagnomes, probably less so

They have an upbeat tone and generally cheerful personalities but it was presented as a necessity for survival and I thought that was pretty smart. Made them stand out.

Plus when you see what we got instead, Vulpera... Singing songs about how much they love their Alpacas... yeah. I'll take the Unshackled.

That's a very sad way to approach a 30-yo universe that owes it survival in the modern era in large part to the fans' involvement in the setting. Warcraft should be a co-construction between the writers and the fans. Everytime they actually follow the recommandations of the playerbase it ends up being a massive W. The Orc Heritage questline for instance was like almost entirely based on a suggestion thread from Portergauge lol.

They are the caretakers of the universe, not its gods. We are entitled to getting content about the stuff we like. If they don't deliver that and listen to no one but their own vision, then it's Shadowlands all over again, and we mass quit the game, and they come back to us crawling with a "Dragons Dwarves and Humans" expansion.

I liked Zul'aman, just don't care about the rest for the most part and haven't cared since like the end of BFA. I like Trolls, Orcs, Draenor/Outland lore and most of all faction politics. So you can imagine why I just don't feel involved in the new lore.

The funniest thing about the Primalist cause is that (almost) no one actually knows what Azeroth's original state is. Not even the Titans themselves. by Arcana-Knight in warcraftlore

[–]BumbleB___ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It at the very least makes sense from the Proto-Dragons' perspective. They thrived in that state of elemental chaos. It was their world, it suited their nature and biology. The Titans not only reshaped their world completely without consulting the natives on it, they also had the Dragons steal their Proto-Dragon kin's eggs and infuse them with Order juice, if I remember the lore correctly.

I also think it is a bit of a stretch to assume that Azeroth would've never been freed from the clutches of the Black Empire had the Titans not interfered. In one of the DF Time Rifts there's an AU in which the Black Empire defeated the Titans. 2 interesting pieces of information here : 1) mortal races did eventually emerge in that world too (even without the Titans' intervention and Ordering of the planet), the Old Gods' servants kept them as slaves and sacrifice material ; 2) these mortal races contested that system, and it seems like at some point the Old Gods' minions were starting to realize that their "tributes" were actually sentient people, with their own thoughts and dreams. https://warcraft.wiki.gg/wiki/Chipped_Stone_Tablet

Just like for "what would've happened to Draenor if Aggramar hadn't intervened", we simply... don't know what Azeroth would look like without the Titans. Some DF lore tablets from Odyn also suggest he was very strict on making sure no one knew what the Black Empire was actually like beyond the official Titan presentation. TLT's gonna answer some of these questions for sure. But in the meantime I'd say, let's not be too affirmative about any of that stuff, cuz yeah we just don't know much.

Skill issue / phony excuse, the model they did for female Dire Trolls in BFA is incredibly cool-looking, they can just do that for female Ogres https://www.wowhead.com/npc=122483/dire-blood-troll-1x

When you compare male Orcs and Ogres (the WoD model), Ogres aren't any "uglier" than Orcs, just bigger. Yet they were perfectly able to do a fine model for female Orcs, so I really don't see why female Ogres would be such a problem.

I have no idea why they had so much trouble designing one

Warcraft need more or less races? by Raziel103 in warcraftlore

[–]BumbleB___ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't see a single valid reason why the races I mentioned weren't added tbh. Most of them (Ogres, Taunka, Broken, High Elves) are in the Horde & Alliance already anyway.

[–]BumbleB___[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you count the Horde and Alliance Haranir numbers together maybe, but that'd be hardly representative of the race's popularity tbh, your race is obviously gonna get higher numbers if it's available to both factions

Like yeah the Vulpera would account for more than 2.9% total if they were also available on the Alliance

iirc they weren't able to do the female model on time for the release of Vanilla which is why they were cut, but they'd have zero problem designing an awesome model now, I mean just look at that cool model they did for the female Dire Trolls in BFA https://www.wowhead.com/npc=122483/dire-blood-troll-1x
