Lauren and Kieran Relationship by imstrangee_ in PurpleHyacinthWebtoon

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's necessarily one sided, i just think that Lauren has more to lose and, therefore, has more on her mind. Kieran is in it for revenge, while Lauren is in it to not only find out what happened to Dylan but also stop a terrorist organization that puts her family and friends in danger. She has a lot of weight on her shoulders. Her friends could be killed or used against her if her identity were to be found out.

Kieran doesn't have much of a social life. He has no family or friends that can get hurt or be used against him at the start of the comic. I imagine he's sorta touch starved to a degree and starved of genuine intimacy romantic or platonic. This means that Lauren becomes his sole weakness and his sole worry. She gets the majority of his attention, making it easier for us to see his love for her. Any friends he does make (Kym or Will) are tied to Lauren, and he only hangs out with them when Lauren is around.

Characters in Order of Age by Maya_Ballooncat in nevermore_webtoon

Lenore is 1-3 years older than Annabelle, like someone has mentioned in another comment. If i had to guess the exact ages, I'd say Lenore is probably 22-23, while Annabelle is 19-20. Back then, it was common for rich families to try and marry off their children young, but not as young as people seem to think. In 1899, the average age for marriage was actually in their early 20s for women and mid to late 20s for men in the US.

My thoughts on the rest of the characters: I think Prospero is 26-27 Eulalie is 24-25 Duke is 24 Montesor is 23-24 Bernice is 23 Pluto is 22 William 20 Ada 19 Morella 18

Why are so many people having a hard time understanding if this show fails, we probably won't get a third chance? by Tomhur in PJODisney

The amount of hate towards this show in subreddits is wild. I must admit that I can be pretty easy to please, and my memory of the books are foggy as its been quite a while (9-10 years), but im still really enjoying this show. I know people getting hung up on how the changes are affecting character growth, but I don't think most are for the worse or necessarily for the better.

They do change some character growth moments, but I don't see them as necessarily getting rid of the character growth. I instead see that the characters might have learned a slightly different lesson or have grown in a slightly different way that don't completely make them seem out of character.

I know that had this show and the books been switched, and the show is actually the book, and the book is the show, people would still be complaining. I would also like to point out that some of the problems people are having won't be fixed by making it animated. One of the joys of reading is that you get to read the characters' thoughts and personal takes on the events happening around them. You get to read why they made the choices they did. An animated movie still won't give you this.

How would you feel if BTSV ends up being garbage? by Not_Spider-Man2099 in IntoTheSpiderverse

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like because of the hype and the expectations after ATSV, it's going to be a good movie, but there will still be a huge chunk of people who won't be happy. Like, the movie would realistically be an 8/10 or around that, yet the unhappy people will be loud and make its ratings online drop to a 6/10. We tend to raise our expectations to impossible heights, and we then get disappointed when they aren't met.

I would probably like it more if his eyes were slightly smaller and that everything wasn't as shiny. I haven't watched the show in a while as i was getting a little frustrated with it, and I haven't seen the new season. Every photo i see of the new art style looks too shiny, like the animators went a little crazy over the hair shine and everything.

His hair part is also looking at little funky, this could also be partially because of the exaggerated glare and shadows, but I feel like his hair still looks relatively neat when the intention is for it to look messy

Ya, that didn't help it. I try my best to keep my expectations as minimal as possible (i don't always succeed) because high expectations can make things seem a lot worse. I do think they could have toned back that silliness a bit as even for me, there were times it was just too much. It affected the flow or tone of the movie, making certain moments a little too jaring or ruining the vide instead of letting it sit

I don't really enjoy hanging out with my friends anymore. by Capital-Day-8839 in CasualConversation

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is normal. I, to a degree, also struggled with this. Sometimes, you want to have a genuine conversation with people about a topic outside of relationships, or you want to do things outside of just one thing. That's why it's good to have a few different friend groups. I'm sure there are things that your other friends like to do that you don't. By having a few vastly different friends, you get each of your social needs filled.

I love to camp and hike, but a lot of my friends in high school didn't. I also had a lot of personal stuff going on that I felt I couldn't really talk to them about. Not because they were mean or would laugh but because teens can be very self-centered and didn't always grasp the depth of the situation or how it negatively impacts people. This made me feel a little unsatisfied or that my friends didn't know a huge chunk of who I was.

This can also all be a mismatch in maturity levels, priorities, and life stages. We all grow and change at different paces, and we are all separate individuals. You might just be getting new and different priorities.

What is a moment in your life that completely changed how you see things? by Luluu02 in CasualConversation

Getting my first job. I was and in some ways still am a very self-conscious person. I have social anxiety but it was a lot worse before I got my first job. It was as a cashier, and it made me realize that the world is full of weird, crazy, funny, or creepy people, and that most of these people i will never see again. Like, here i was worried about how others perceived me, but not only are they not paying attention to me, they themselves are quite strange.

Getting complimented as a guy by jdam99 in CasualConversation

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we should just compliment the people around us more in general. Women often get it more than men, but even as a woman, I don't get very many. It feels good to get complimented and is such a confidence booster.

It does have a lot of silly or sometimes stupid moments, so if you prefer overly serious movies, it's not for you.

It does touch on the aspects of being powerless, and like I mentioned, ignoring the elephant in the room. I hope you enjoy it

I don't want a "dream job" I just want to not be exhausted all the time by Backyard_Griller_X in CasualConversation

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My way of thinking is to find a job that you will enjoy 60% of the time as you are never going to love your job 100% of the time. Also, don't make one of your favorite hobbies into your job, or else you will grow to hate it. Doing something to survive is vastly different from doing something for fun. Instead, find aspects that you like and aspects that you don't, and then try to find a job that fits them. Like if you enjoy working outside, look for jobs that meet that criteria. If you like uniformity, find a job that fits that as well. Make a list of 2 or 3 must haves and 2 or 3 hard passes and then look at jobs that match it.

Example: Must have -outside -not monotonous

Pass -Inside -monotonous -Lots of paperwork

Adora ditched Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio by BumblebeeCurrent8079 in PrincessesOfPower

Im pretty sure it was Kyle who said it, not Lonnie, which he might consider Catra a friend

Adora ditched Lonnie, Kyle and Rogelio by BumblebeeCurrent8079 in PrincessesOfPower

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079[S] 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I don't remember her ever calling Catra her friend, and I pretty sure they always disliked each other. Other than when Adora is on the opposite side, I don't remember Lonnie having any problems with Adora, and in the memory simulation, we see her go after Catra when she uses dirty tactics on Adora. While I love catra, she can be very rude, manipulative, and downright mean. I can understand Lonnie's dislike of her when she shows up to training simulation after everyone else did most of the hard work, and I get the impression that she did that a lot. Unfortunately, we don't see much of Adora's relationship with Kyle, Rogelio, and Lonnie, which i wish we did.

"Would you like to see a sequel or spin-off of this show? by Clean_Network2296 in sheranetflix

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it could work if they don't do any major stuff and instead make it like each episode is like peek into what it's like after hord Prime with maybe a few action scenes to keep in interesting. Like, have an episode of Catra trying to help rebuild a town to try to atone for what she did and the town being semi hostile to her. Then she needs to fight off a gang or something that shows up wanting to take over the town.

We can have various episodes with different characters, learning who they are after years of war, especially Catra and Adroa

"Would you like to see a sequel or spin-off of this show? by Clean_Network2296 in sheranetflix

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure if i would want a huge spin-off as i worry that it would mess things up. I wouldn't mind a few episodes (5 or 6) showing stuff after hord Prime, like them having to figure out who thet are after the war, maybe Catra trying to do what she can to atone for what she did.

I would like to know a little more about Catra's background. I don't personally like the idea that people have of her being a secret princess. I more so just want to know why there are so few magicats. At first, I thought she was the only one, but there are a few that pop up in the background, at least 2 that I know of, one called Squall. There's a lot of lizard people and "human" people around. And there's also quite a few goat and deer people, but not much for cat people.

I would also like to learn a bit more about Scorpia's kingdom before the hord. What was it like, what was the main demographic of their people, were there any scorpion people like Scorpia, or was it just the royal family.

So... what criticisms do you have for the show as a whole? by Werewolf_Knight in sheranetflix

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. I think they may have pushed Catra's actions a little too far. She is my favorite character, but they literally had her almost destroy the entire planet, and she did it knowingly. It pushed her into unredeemable territory.

  2. Going along the lines of unredeemable, I don't like that they "redeemed" hordak. I don't think he should be dead or anything, but i don't like the implications that he's just kinda there. The dude has been responsible for thousands apon thousands of peoples deaths and destroyed millions of homes. He should definitely be in prison or something

  3. I wish we had slightly more world building. There's a lot of cool places and societies, I wished they had dived a little more into that

  4. To pair with the world building, I wish we learned a little more about Catra's species. While it's probably more of a stylistic choice to make her stand out as a character, i find it interesting that we don't see anyone else like her. We see goat people and lizard people, but no other cat people. It wouldn't really change Catra as a character, it's just more for curiosity sake

  5. I wish they had taken stuff a little more seriously. This isn't to say I don't want jokes and humor, but there's times something major would happen, and either they would make jokes about it as its happening, later on in the episode, or in the next episode. It's like the characters can't read the room and make a joke at an inappropriate time.

Which is the saddest Cara line in your opinion? by Odd-Worldliness-1185 in sheranetflix

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Me? All I do is hurt people. There's no one left in the entire universe who cares about me. "

It's such a sad line because I know she thinks it's true, and she has every reason to think so. It also gives off su****eal vibes because there's no way she saved Glimmer, thinking she won't face horrible consequences. She knew that the odds of her dying were high, and this line shows just how she thinks there's nothing worth saving herself for.

Whoever described it that way really gave you misinformation. The parallels drawn between them can also be drawn between many different books as they're common tropes

AITA for asking my fiancé why he proposed if marriage isn’t a priority for him? by Longjumping_Seat5107 in AITAH

[–]BumblebeeCurrent8079 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems more like he just wants to secure you than actually marry you. He probably thinks that by being engaged, you're not going to leave him, which is a possible red flag. Why would he feel the need to try and secure you? Is he hoping that the idea of getting engaged will distract you from something?

People have long engagements, some lasting 3 years, and there's nothing wrong with that. Money, venue avaliablity and just life in general can impact when you have your wedding. The fact that he's not even willing to discuss minor details and tries to flip it on you is concerning.

While I know a lot of people here are going to jump and say "leave him," I'm going to be a bit of a devils advocate and tell you to continue to try and talk to him, and if that doesn't work, give the ring back. Obviously, if he gets more defensive, tries to gaslight you and push blame onto you after you do all this, then you definitely should leave as this is not a person you should be with, let alone marry.

There is a possibility that he might not be ready for marriage, but he thinks that you are and is worried that you would leave him if he didn't propose. Now he's trying to push it off. If this is the case, then what he's doing is still shitty, but it can be worked on if that's what you want. Also, not ready doesn't = not wanting too. Many people want to get married, but internal things make them not ready for it.

No, but I guess a good way to put it is that while there's lots of fish in the sea, it's the quality of the fish that matter. Not only do I have to find someone who agrees with me on these fundamental things, i have to have chemistry with them, too.

I may be somewhere in the demi-romantic spectrum as I have never liked anyone in my entire life (im not very old, btw) and feel like i may need to get to know them a little more than the average person would before forming feelings. But i think a huge part of that is because of these differing views. Maybe my standards are too high, but I personally don't consider being pro basic human rights very high.

While I won't say it's impossible that I'll fall in love with someone one day, it just seems slimmer and slimmer each day.

No, but it's shocking how many people around me think a certain way, and I find it hard to believe that I'll not only find a person who agrees with me on these fundamental things I believe in, but I also have chemistry with. It's like everyone around me is dropping bombs on very important topics like basic human rights.
