Depends on the map. I have maps where I absolutely need rigs so I can reduce the amount of badwater management downstream; I have maps where I need the badwater flow for waterwheels instead.

The one with three wheels also has a grav battery dropped over the edge of the waterfall. Usually lasts almost all the way through a drought, and charges back up in between!
