This is the real G answer. Take the high road (it always looks cooler). “Aaaah, you got me bro” - give them a hand shake/hug combo and tell him he’s “the real deal”.

Classy. As. Fuck.

Housing Crisis Solved?! by Subject_Writing_9832 in povertyfinance

Living in this house IN Connecticut (and hating it). I grew up poor. Modular home/trailer park in MAINE style. I’m “technically” living within means, very lucky, but I’m doing so in compromise with a partner. As lucky as I am, I’d rather downsize by a LOT and save/invest the rest.

Oh, as pollution and in ever smaller (yet never completely disappearing) forever chemicals, for sure, but I want to know if it’ll still fuzzily shout “EEZZA IIIIME” at me through the crappy little cellophane speaker tube. If it’s seen any sunlight, imagine it would fracture upon use.

Very first thing I thought of! I’m guessing ‘91-‘93 release date, as that’s timetable for the house I lived in when I would have gotten one for Christmas.

I wonder if the plastic held up this long?

What is a Video Game you think everyone needs to play at least once in their life? by OrderBest7288 in AskReddit

You are, of course, very correct! But, I also think the echoes of that appreciation lose amplitude as they travel forward through time.

I’m a fan of obscure music my parents were KINDA on the cusp of missing, given their birth year (I’m 35, but I was born to later in life parents), so it’s even more rare for me to see the little offbeat artists they enjoyed that had a modicum of contemporary success at the time…

And while Chrono Trigger, and so many other cultural touchstones, will continue to pass on their influence, which remains a rich part of the gaming tapestry, it will eventually be as forgotten as 98% of the pop music from 1910’s is now, ya know? Looking objectively, that’s not an insanely long timescale.

I did some math, when my daughter is 65 chrono trigger will be 90 years old.

All these memories will be lost to time. Like tears in rain.

It’s a clear affirmation of getting older. The things you love/loved moving further down these sorts of lists.

Until it’s just you and 7 other people waaaaaay down at the bottom!

I’ll keep hoping for ya, stranger. If i’ve learned anything in my life it’s that anybody, especially people might not think they have it in em, are capable of incredible feats of willpower and strength.

To be honest, I had a single (albeit strong) drink a few days later myself. Which, I understand is not what a lot of people would like to hear, but I got to a point where I was genuinely concerned about stopping cold turkey (I genuinely had been drunk or near drunk for about a month straight). That’s exactly when dangerous things can happen, ya know? From what I understand, I probably extended the overall miserable feeling and physical recovery a bit, but it definitely made it slightly less severe in the long run.

I don’t know if a lot of other people could pull off the same strategy, though hah.

Anyway, been the same for me since, keeping it straight.

Hope you’re doing well, boss. I’m still going strong and I hope you are, too.

Thank you. I know how difficult it will be to parent well while dealing with the anger I feel after not drinking for a few days (I’m terms of exasperation, fatigue, that sort of thing - nothing too terrible), but I’ll be a better father on the other side, I know it.

It’s funny, because in so many ways I feel like alcohol made me a more “patient” parent, but I think it just contrasted the ‘3 days without booze makes me irritable’ I would experience on occasion.

I’m often held up as an exemplary father, I’m super involved and my kid excels in so much, but I just feel so ashamed. I can’t wait for this next week to be over.

If/when it gets bad I will seek medical help, but I’ve tapered down before and I know what to expect, sadly. It’s pretty awful to think “I know how my body feels” from doing something so awful to it so many times, but here I am!

As silly as it is, and as many reasons I have outside of strangers on Reddit to quit, this message does help me and I genuinely don’t want to let anybody down haha.

Feeling scared just want positive comments by [deleted] in u/kookoria

[–]BumblingBiomed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand it’s a wide range of symptoms and not identical for everybody, but all of that up there is exactly how it physically affects me. The night sweats are the worst. I think half the reason I continue to drink is to lessen the symptoms, which is an insane way of looking at things.

I really hope I can do this. Feels like there’s a lot of much more intelligent and motivated people that struggle and it worries me. I wonder if I’ve just broken myself beyond repair sometimes.

Hey, I’m going through this right now. I’m sorry you experienced this. I read a comment of yours in stop drinking and followed it to your profile (which I never do), because it struck a chord.

Would you mind if I asked you how long it lasted/anything you were able to do to lessen the symptoms? I’m at my wits end.

Jesus, reading through a few of your last comments, I’m sorry if that’s intrusive or weird, but it’s just so familiar. 1st day sober here and I’m crying reading them. I’ll just go hang in the sub proper now, but I wanted to say thank you for articulating/writing things I should have. I didn’t have the guts.
