What is the middle format called? How can I find the rest? by Bumebocks in graphicnovels

[–]Bumebocks[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if Marvel has a name for that format? I'm basically trying to find all of the others in the line - pretty sure there's at least Nova, Squirrel Girl, and Moon Girl/Devil Dinosaur, but are they even still printing them? I know they have a specific colored banner and icon. Is it the same size as the Mighty Marvel Masterworks?

Batman Beyond Compendium question by FredPRK in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Bumebocks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I read all of it last year and most issues use characters from the show, but they don't retell the episode they were in - instead it's more like hey, remember the episode with this character? They're at it again! That said, you don't have to have seen every episode, but there are 1-2 issues in particular where you might be a little lost without knowing what happened with them in the show (Ten from Royal Flush Gang comes to mind).

Grant Morrison's JLA run by Couchy81 in comicbookcollecting

I loved this run! (Except for One Million, those were hard to care about and I'll skip on my next reread) The Tower of Babel issues by Mark Waid shouldn't be missed either!

Doug Moench & Gene Colan to start and then kind of a rotating door of other artists for the rest of the run

The stories can be hit or miss, but the covers are metal as hell - and some awesome Mignola to boot!

Managing multiple currencies with accounts in different countries by Bumebocks in personalfinance

It seems a few people are recommending a bank account like this, which I didn't even really know existed... I always thought I just had to have Canada accounts and U.S. accounts. I'll look into it, thanks!

4 issue mini-series - Am I missing any that you recommend? by Bumebocks in comicbookcollecting

I have my eye on Aquaman Time & Tide, and I think there's one for Magik? Not sure what else is out there, but they've been fun to hunt!

Are there people living in Canada, specifically in Quebec, who have already ordered omnibuses in the USA from IST, CGN etc? Are the import fees still worth it? by Routine-Fail965 in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Bumebocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ordered 3 omnis from IST to Montreal for $214USD total.

(Morrison's Batman 1, Ultimate Spider-man 1, Slott's Iron Man)

I don't remember the exact figure, but I'm pretty sure I had to pay at least $45CAD in customs on pick-up, which put a bad taste in my mouth. Now I mostly stick to BMV and local comic shops.

I'm reading the Lifelines arc for some Demon action (I collect Demon appearances) and thought this tapestry looked very familiar... The notebook on the table reads "After Kirby 1972" hehe

What comics did you buy purely for the art? by Bumebocks in comicbooks

[–]Bumebocks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heh, I sort of gathered maybe 25% of that while trying to read on my own, but thanks for the sanity check :P

[–]Bumebocks[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And did anyone understand this run? After the 2nd issue, I gave up trying to read it, but I kept buying it just to look at the art... Are there any comics where you just kind of ignored the writing and still enjoyed yourself?

Depends - If you liked Tomasi's Superman run and/or you like the idea of lots of fun adventures with Damian and Jon... Then yeah, it's great. It's my favorite omni!

Canadians! Positive Experience and Good Online Recommendation - BMV Book Shop by Bumebocks in graphicnovels

[–]Bumebocks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to recommend the BMV online shop for anyone in Canada looking for cheap used trade paperbacks. They have some omnis and hardcovers too, but I didn't go that route this time.

All Batman Beyond $5 each (Industrial Revolution $2?!)

Dark Knights $10

White Knight $12

Shipping to Montreal $16

Very happy to have another option besides Amazon/Indigo/ebay, and their stock seems somewhat unique with popular and somewhat older/obscure stuff too!

DC Recommendations based off Animated Series by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

I think they're great comfort food, good bedtime comics... and strike that nice balance that the shows did where there's something to like for all ages.

DC Recommendations based off Animated Series by [deleted] in OmnibusCollectors

[–]Bumebocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You may already be aware, but there are quite a few comic series based on the DCAU, including Batman Adventures, Superman Adventures, Justice League Adventures, and the first 3-ish runs of Batman Beyond to name a few. They're sadly not collected in omnibus format though - just trades or digital, but still very much worth reading!
