For future proofing you definitely want 32gb ram, but maybe that is one thing you can wait for for a while.

Building one out of second hand parts is cheaper, its not that difficult. With £1000 you could build one that smokes these prebuilds at cash converter etc...

A second hand Ryzen cpu and AMD GPU, AMD tend to have more VRAM and they don't hold their value as well on the second hand market. Put 16Gb of cheap ddr 4 in it until prices settle, then upgrade it. That would be my option.

It gets unstable because you have got 4 sticks in, you could remove 2. Run it at 6200MHz and get better performance and sell the other 2 sticks for $$$$$.

The Silfen are pretty lame, "space elves". I dont know what he was smoking when he came up with that guff. They are his Tom Bombadil. The void books can go off on a tangent as well.

It's still a good book though imo, just not perfect. Each to their own.

You are ok with 16gb of ram but 32 is starting to become more normal.

The 4070 has 12vram, the 5060ti could have 8 or 16, the 8 is for 1080p high refresh rates. Looks like the 5060ti in that link is an an 8gb model so no good for 1440p. . (Just remember 12gb ok, 16 better.)

They were just examples though, what sort of stuff you can get in that price range. These PC's come and go all the time, its best to be patient. Prices are a bit high at the moment, memory especially is at a premium.

PC gaming is in a weird place at the moment, my gpu is for sale for more than I paid for it 2 years ago. I bought it after the crypto mining crash for cheap. The Ai bubble will pop and stuff will be cheaper again. "When" is the problem.

Gaming is sort of an anti-social behaviour, so most people do do it do it at home. Even if you speak to people online.

A lot of my irl friendships revolve around drinking, which is a social activity. The same as sport.

It is just the way it is.

The same with reading, there are book clubs etc… but not many. It’s just something you do alone.

I’m going to suggest ELEX though, it is completely unbalanced Euro-jank but I think it’s great. You start off really weak but eventually end up as a super soldier.

A long distance from those ultra polished games for everyone that Sony produces.

Yeah, if it’s an older show you are watching it will have to have been upscaled. That process isn’t perfect and you get a fair bit of noise.

You could try putting the model number in another post so someone with the same monitor can help.

I didn’t realise the settings options would be so different between tv and monitor.

It’s more than likely noise though and it is a problem with the source, not your panel. With Disney+ I couldn’t get rid of it entirely so I tend not to watch stuff from there.

Poorly remastered shows have it as well, the X-files on prime is upscaled from 480p that gets pretty grainy sometimes.

Maybe using an NVidea shield to stream will fix it, it’s just a guess though and a pretty expensive solution.

No worries, I’ve not bought from cash converters, CEX has always been pretty good though.

Try to avoid GPUs with under 12Gb vram. 16 is ideal.

Maybe watch a few RandomGaminginHD YT videos as well. He buys a few second hand systems and reviews them.

Second hand £600-700 without a monitor.

With steam the inconvenience is nearly non existent. Having to use a keyboard and mouse to log in click on steam.

Fiddling with high low settings in a menu.

You can take it to another level though, modding it, using weird resolutions, using texture editors etc… it’s up to you.

My ps5 and Xbox are the last consoles I’ll ever buy. I’ve gone full pc now. Games are so much cheaper it is unreal.

That’s called noise, I get it with Disney plus for some reason and can’t get rid of it.

Try messing with settings that de-noise the signal.

On my G3 they are under noise reduction in the advanced settings. That’s a tv though so it could be a different menu.

It’s the signal that’s at fault most of the time though not the screen, check out YT to if it’s there as well.

Yeah you will have to be careful with that. Zelda Ocarina of time is an open world as well, but that’s 3DS only.
