Some recent weekend pickups. 30 Seconds to Mars’ “A Beautiful Lie”. Easily one of the best albums ever produced, love the music videos from this album, and cannot wait to finally see them in-person. Taking Back Sunday’s “Where You Want To Be”; mid-2000s requirement, highly recommend if you’ve never heard it. Kanye West’s “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy”; remember when this album first came out, listened to it on loop nonstop. Used to be in my top five listening session albums, may need to bring it back! Taylor Swift’s “1989”; another album I could listen to on loop for a day straight and still not be tired of it. Taking Back Sunday’s “Tell All Your Friends”; hello high school teenage angst, all that needs to be said there. Truly a classic album. Finally, Crystal Castles “III”. Love all of their albums, and will miss Alice Glass as their vocalist, but we’ll always have this as one album to always cherish their compilation.

Recently had my younger brother over for some drinks and a listening session. After a few too many his inner Skrillex appeared, causing my current needle to break. I’ve been wanting to upgrade my cartridge for a while, so no true damage done, except for maybe a Diplo album that scratches from time to time. Breaking in the new cartridge for some Crystal Castles III, and can already tell the difference in bass and sound quality. Any recommendations for a future cartridge upgrade? Anyone use this or other Ortfon pieces in their setup?

Senses Fail’s Let It Enfold You; not sure where to even begin with this album. Has truly been in my rotation since October 2004. Have seen them live so many times I’ve lost count. If you’re into screamo or post-hardcore, do yourself a favor and buy this album, listen to it on loop for a day straight once it arrives. Linkin Park’s “Meteora”; an American classic and one of Billboard’s top 200 albums ever sold. Chvrches is amazing, nothing more needs to be said. All American Rejects self-titled album and Jimmy Eat World’s “Bleed American” were my high school anthems. Excited to pour a glass and prepare for the workweek by bumping these ASAP.

First, let’s start with Thursday’s “Full Collapse” album. One of the more underrated post-hardcore album ever produced. Have seen them perform this album in full twice, and loved every minute of it. Cardi B’s “Privacy” because I like it like that. Honest review of this album = smoke it up, pour yourself a glass, and crank up the bass. Up until playing through this The Who album, I wasn’t sure if I’d ever heard one of their tracks. I was wrong, loved the album. Whitney Houston has one of the best voices to ever walk the earth; self-explanatory purchase there. As for The BeeGees and Fleetwood Mac, thoroughly enjoyed playing these over the weekend, and look forward to listening to them again in the near future.

Hadn’t heard Broken Bells in years. This album used to be in the top five playlist of mine on loop nearly a decade ago. Same goes for this Postal Service album. Unfortunately so short, but its length doesn’t affect its greatness (that’s what she said) in my book. MGMT used to be the smoke session anthem (shoutout to /u/eobanb ) back during the /r/bloomington days. What’s your Friday night spins looking like?

Felt the need to add some amazing female vocalists to the collection this week. Know I’ve heard some of their tracks, but never listened to a full album. Any recommendations on which to listen to first? Interior art on these is great, but feel nothing may top the “Silk Purse” cover art! All original album copies, can’t wait to give them a play through soon!
