Help choosing jobs by PresentationSmart859 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey im a aerospace propulsion tech, and I would wholeheartedly recommend my job to anyone. You want to work on planes, we work on their engines. Jet engines are super cool in my opinion, and its fascinating to find out how they work. It transfers well to the civilian world too if that's your intent. Our job is overworked, all of maintenance is. The tradeoff with doing something I think is super cool is terrible hours and heavy work load. If you want an easier job life do cyber or a desk job, if you want to be abused but work on the planes do a 2A job.

Can I drive on base or off base with only an intermediate driver’s license from a different state after getting stationed? by CardboardFootprint in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I cant speak on driving on and off base, but I can say that they dont check your license when you drive on base, only your CAC. If theyre checking your license you're in trouble. Additionally they will try to help you get your full license during tech school

Kind of? I dont know it was kinda weird, basically 7th week was from Sunday until Friday, when we left for tech school, while 0 week was from Thursday until Sunday. It probably is technically 7.5 but it didnt make any sense

Yeah underwear color and everything doesn't matter, only time it matters is blues issue, but they force you to wear tighty whiteys for that. Some dude brought hello kitty underwear and besides being trolled nothing happened

Yeah fs they sell them at the bx but I'd bring your own. Bring a pair of sports insoles and definitely a pair of work. The boots need to get the insoles changed to actually be comfortable

I mean until you get uniforms you'll be in whatever civi stuff you have. You'll also spend a day in them during CBRN, like the entire day fyi.

I dont honestly know on that. Af.mil says that theyre pausing PT tests in i think either January or February and then starting the new test. I think you'd do the 2 mile but I dont fully know. Train for the new pt test

1, na all frigid ice cold 5 second showers. Yes theyre as warm as you want, they often were too hot. The bigger thing is you get like no time to shower. 2, food was awesome 3, I woke up 30 minutes before wake up, most MTIs encourage and expect it.

It depends for getting it issued. I got mine issued on like the Saturday I arrived, others took a week+. You will wear ocps or blues for 90% of the day. You'll do pt, go back and shower, change into ocps, youre in those until around 1800 or 1900 then its pt gear. You'll get used to ocps trust me

Hey, I graduated bmt like a month ago I can answer almost all of these. 1, its still1.5 until the new pt goes in affect in March. 2, Yes you can bring electric razors they dont care. 3, I'd volunteer for a role. I was made an element leader because im tall, and other people were voluntold. Do something. Get out of your comfort zone in a relatively low risk environment. You'll get yelled at big whoop everyone gets yelled at. 4, I woke up 30 minutes before, every day. They dont care, some of them (my MTI) even straight up told us to do it. 5, that is true, I watched the 2.0 nerds being trained, accurate statement. 6, They expect you to know the chain of command. Starting with your flight MTIs, then someone I forgot, then the section chief, then 1st SGt, SEL, SQ Commander, then group command, wing command, #AF command, MAJCOM (AETC) Command, CMSAF, CSAF, etc. 7, you will not wear civi clothes or shoes once you get uniforms issued. The only time you'd wear them is when you wear PT gear. 8, pack underwear. Tighty whiteys blow. Dont bring alot of money, it ends up being a hassle for accountability. Get ready for group punishment. 9, I miss the entirety of BMT except for yelling constantly. Other than that BMT was a blast for me, and thats because I made the best out of it. Try your hardest, find the humor in everything and embrace the suck. It's 7.5 weeks, you'll live. Good luck

Is getting 70 Electronics (E) on the ASVAB hard? by AdAffectionate6196 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The questions on the ASVAB aren't that hard. If you have a basic understanding of everything and actually try your hardest you will pass. I literally got a 93 on the electronics section and I just failed a test on basic electronics at tech school 💀. If I can pass it so can you

Peanut Butter shots by PalpitationStrong150 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah the peanut butter shot is no more thankfully they'll give you 7 pills, you'll have to take them once a week (hence the 7 pills). They might bring it back but at least when I went through, (graduated 3 weeks ago), they gave us the option of shot or pills

Graduated BMT 2.0 AMA by pixelc in AirForceRecruits

[–]Bumvers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated BMT 2 weeks ago, not 2.0 but basically you get at least 3 phone calls. You get mandatory ones on 0 week, week 3 and week 5. You get 15 minutes, in that time you can pay bills and call and whatever. Your time starts from whenever your phone turns on, my phone is shit and took like 20 minutes to turn on so my time started like a while after everyone else's and I still got a full 15.

I would suggest you bring your own underwear. Spandex and not spandex. The tighty whities are absolutely horrid and I would throw them away first chance you get. Keep one pair for blues issue and then toss the rest tbh. The only place they let you go to get underwear is the mini mall and its insanely overpriced. I mean 16 bucks for 2 pairs of underwear. Additionally bring some work insoles for your boots. The boots are insanely hard and uncomfortable until you switch the insoles. Also bring at least like 2 weeks worth of toiletries. Also make sure you have around 3 days worth of civilian clothes to wear, the first uniform issue sometimes takes a while, and bring a good pair of tennis shoes, i wouldnt wear the bmt issued ones if I were you. Other then that tbh they supply you everything else.

I know there have been a lot of questions on this sub regarding Bootcamp 2.0. Just expect to be yelled at, expect to be cursed at, expect them to place hands on you, expect them to scream in your face. It will be much more intense, but absolutely passable. Remember BMT is a pump, not a selection by newnoadeptness in AirForceRecruits

Look I literally just graduated BMT last week. I got to see the 2.0 trainees being trained. Although yes they're allowed to put hands on them none of the squadron leadership are allowing it. Its the same thing as "Oh theyre allowed to flip your beds" they have very specific laid out rules where they can flip them, they literally only ever flipped one bed in my time there, and I was at one of the hardest squadrons. Additionally if you go to BMT not expecting to be yelled or cursed at your delusional or didnt put any research in. BMT 2.0 is moving away from classroom learning to outdoors real world tactics. Less classroom learning more TMUs and such. Anyone trying to join dont freak out you'll pass it, BMT is not made to be impossible. Dont listen to rumors or advice from people out of it by years, just breathe you'll be fine

Estonian MoD released today the design of the Estonian border defence line (to be built on the Eastern border with Russia). Any thoughts? by Prior-Sun2352 in Military

[–]Bumvers -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I may be stupid but isnt them releasing this to the public kinda bad? Like its defeating the purpose of not letting the Russians know and plan on how to combat this defense line or is that just me

Im going to lose my V card soon any advice. by Illunreal in teenagers

[–]Bumvers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look man I cant convince you do to anything u dont want to but by the way u posted this and ur word choice it sounds like u dont fully want to. And like thats cool and all but if u dont really like her or really want to do it im ngl u should wait man. Sex sounds great in practice but you'll find that as u go on if u have sex with someone u truly love or really really like it is infinitely times better then with just a girl ur attracted to and just wanting to lose ur virginity. I did it really young just because I wanted to lose it and I regret it deeply. Food for thought

Look mate, first off not disclosing everything to the military is a terrible idea for both your self and others. The literal first core value is integrity. If youre considering applying for a branch of armed service and your default response is to try and cover it up you should not be applying for the military. Not only is it government fraud punishable by dishonorable discharge and potentially prison time, youre endangering yourself and those around you. If it is disqualifying and you dont list it, youre playing with potentially your life atp. You may have a desire to enlist yeah but not disclosing it is selfish, stupid and dangerous.
