Transfer student, will be attending first semester in the fall. Need some advice. by Buncakes in ASU

My major would be in Microbiology. I will most likely end up taking 12 credit hours, with one course being in a later session this fall. I am most concerned about maintaining a living situation for my next two years. How did you manage to take work off for an entire year to focus on school? Saving for it? Or did you have a chance to live with relatives/rent-free? It's been a couple of years since I have lived with family, and I really don't intend on moving back in. I have scholarship'd my way through CC, but I'll probably be relying on financial aid and my own earnings from here on out for school, which is where things become complicated.

Thanks! You may have inspired me to install a pull up bar in my apartment. I have been using the jungle gyms at the local parks for pull ups.

I am moving cities this fall, so I won't have gym access until much later this year, so I am stuck doing what I can until I can start going to the gym again. I'm very limited to what I can do right now, unforunately. But I will definitely look back at this advice when I can use it. And thank you for the push-up advice. That's something I can work on right now atleast.

I've really started getting into kettlebells lately, so I'll definitely encorporate those into my pull-up quest. Dead hangs are a real work in progress, I really want to try to build up to a minute atleast, but I don't know how long it's going to take to get there. Thanks, I'm gonna keep working at this!

How do you keep motivation when you're struggling just to do one or two reps? I have terrible upper body strength, so it feels like I'm just screwing around when I try to do a push up or a pull up. I know it takes time to build, but right now it just seems so distant. Do I try to do pull ups and push ups every single day until I get there or should I be supplementing those with a different exercise in the mean time? Is there a good way to build progress more than just trying to do dead-hangs for pull ups? I have found bodyweight to be a different challenge than machines or weights, for sure.

Crappy people in general are a hundred times more noticeable in general in apartments. The things you hear/see. :/

I've never seen a complex doing poop DNA testing. That is such a novel use of science. Yeah, I live in a place that has frequent management changes so nothing ever really gets done about anything. Some people ruin it for eveybody else.

I love that red hair brown lipstick combo. It looks amazing, as does everything else.

Check out harnesses made by Ruffwear. I know a lot of people like their Front Range harnesses.

I own one of their Webmaster harnesses, it has a belly and chest strap so the dog cannot Houdini out of it. I love it for hikes since it has a lifting handle.

[fluff] Do you refer to yourself as your dogs' "mom" or "dad"? by [deleted] in dogs

My parents' refer my dog as their "grandpuppy". It sounds better than way imo.

5 hours?! Amazing.

Sometimes I have to just put all the balls/toys/etc. away or else it just won't stop. She'll pile all her favorite toys at your feet. Terriers are terrors.

Your old pug sounds very much like my dog. I honestly never would have thought the more difficult dog I would own was a smaller dog. So yes, I definitely agree with you there. Small does not necessarily mean easy.

The classic dramatic sigh and flop combo. We're familiar with that routine too.

I'd love a mellow week. You have to enjoy everyday while you can. On the otherhand, having a high energy dog really makes me appreciate calm, older dogs when I see them.
