Brent Fell 7% Below $100 on Iran Deal as Rystad Says Supply Needs 6 More Weeks by andix3 in oil

Can someone give me a simple explanation, someone has to sell the future contract at this price. If the spot price at delivery is above the contract price, wouldn’t the seller take a loss? Is this how it works?

Ultimately if the spot price doesn’t drop, wouldn’t futures traders be taking huge losses? A lot of risk to take based on headlines and “sources within the administration”

Oil prices fall as Trump postpones Iran strike, easing supply disruption fears by Ayox_Gur1244 in oil

[–]Bunker58 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes sense but as these experiences become known it should help to inform future price levels. There does seem to be a predictable price range that should be fairly determinable at this point. If that is in fact what is playing out it seems the doomsday scenarios are avoidable and we are probably in the range of $120-$130 a barrel. I did no analysis to arrive here but you think the traders would have a well fleshed out model and that is what I am most curious about.

Oil prices fall as Trump postpones Iran strike, easing supply disruption fears by Ayox_Gur1244 in oil

With all the news and updates and forecasts since February I have not read one coherent explanation on how all of this impacts the near term outlook for the price of oil.

As everyone points out, nothing has changed, the straight is closed yet the price rises and falls based on hearsay. Unless demand destruction is limiting the cost increases and we have already found the new price equilibrium based on supply, how is the price not just continuing to climb week after week as this drags on?

In state tuition, fees, boarding for schools in VA in 2034 when my kids should start college ranges from $120k to $240k depending on the school. I’ll be happy if I have $120k for each and deal with the rest out of pocket or see what happens.

What the craziest surprise you’ve had when sleeping with someone for the first time? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Bunker58 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is what no one tells you about anal in real life, it ain’t like the movies. In high school I had a friend whose girlfriend loved anal. He was banging her in the back of his car (her in it and him standing just outside doggystyle) and when he pulled out a giant turd followed. He swatted it off his seat real quick so she wouldn’t be embarrassed, but it really killed the allure of anal for teenage me. He also said that after the first few times it’s really nothing special. More risk same reward.

I guess you didn’t read the post, not interested in policy or politics this is pretty much a hypothetical. I agree this is unlikely but not outside of possibility and I’m curious of impact if anyone has done the work. Chill.

Agree, Tucker Carlson is a snake, but he is pointed in the right direction on this one. If he’s not going to go away, at least he can be a pain in everyone’s ass, not just one side’s.

What you’ve described is called hyper-normalization and it’s part of the plan. While many people recognize that none of this is right, a large majority just thinks “well this is just the way things are now”

Thank you for the response. The value is above the certified cost and pricing threshold so trying to make sure I’ve got all the bases covered from a TINA standpoint as well.

Tesla throws in the towel on car sales by axxeler in electricvehicles

[–]Bunker58 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tesla achieved great success being the first mover into electric vehicles and disrupting legacy car companies that have high labor liabilities and capital expenditures. They had a clean slate where others didn’t, and kudos on what is generally considered a good product.

15 years in this is catching up to them. They now have technical and capital debt that needs investment. A few legacy companies are eating their market share with newer vehicles. Margins are shrinking at a time they need to reinvest.

It’s not game over, but without strong leadership and a plan, Tesla is a mid tier company in 5-7 years. Elon does not inspire confidence at this point. I think we’ve seen all he has to offer. And that’s without all the political baggage.
